I have a question what do I need to take with me to activate my IR-1

at the Calgary POE

I am leaving Aug 20/07 on a flight from Calgary to Knoxville, TN

I will check in with the Calgary Airport US immigration people with:

My Plane ticket showing I am Flying into the US.

Of coarse the Sealed envelope

My Canadian Visa with the GC insert.

O and of coarse MY USC wife ( sponcer)

Anything Else needed?

P.S I called them at the Calgary Airport and they said Best Time is in the early morning

on a Monday... I told the guy on the phone that I would be coming home to finish selling

my Calgary home..

Ha ha and he when into Training mode and gave me a lecture that after I activate the Visa Calgary would not be my home ...

Regards

Colin

The medical is probably in the envelope. They say you're supposed to carry your x-ray, and I did, but hope you know no one wants it, and it'll be sitting in your closet for the next 100 years....

Seriously, I'd just roll it up and put an elastic band around it, and carry it through. Or put it in a carry on after it's rolled up.

Sounds like you have things covered!

Best of luck with your POE, and your new journey in the USA!

Ur medical is in that sealed envelope!! Al looks good!! i wouldn't worry about the xray!! Best of luck

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
