I got an EAD stamp on my I-94, POE: JFK. The problem is Im about to start working next week and my EAD expires in less than a month, I already filed for AOS & EAD, no NOA1 yet, I know there is no way I can get my EAD b4 the current one expires and that i will have to stop working when this happens. The thing is: I made an appointment at my local USCIS office for this friday, Do you think they are gonna tell me something different?? Do they have a way to help?? Thanks Im just trying to get an idea of what they're gonna say.

You are going to have to go to your employer and explain this. Technically, you have 90 days to produce the document. The fact that they accepted the I-94 is evidence that they know the law and are willing to reason.

See if you can get e receipt proving you filed for the EAD. that should help.

You have 90 days to produce the document if you are work authorized. If the EAD stamp expires and the new EAD hasn't been approved, you're not work authorized.

Thanks, so the only thing I can do right now is to keep my fingers crossed to get the NOA2 b4 EAD expires, that means i would need the hard copy in less than a month, very unlikely to happen <_<

If I were you I wouldn't volunteer anything to my employers in the meantime. Its up to them to make sure its legal for them to employ you, not you.

carla-justin,

You will have to stop working only if your employer tells you that you have to stop working.

Exactly. This is the point I was trying to make above. Don't go to your employer and tell them your EAD has run out and what are they going to do about it? Let things take their natural course and be cool, daddio.
