N400 and Change of Address

Hi there. My mom decided to apply for Naturalization instead of renewing her green card that's expiring in September. However, she moved to California from Illinois in 2017 and forgot to change her address. Should she change her address first with USCIS before applying N400, will this affect her application? And does she need to wait 3 months before applying for N400 after changing her address?

Thank you

She can file AR-11 any time online in 5 minutes and get instant confirmation. Technically she can do it before or after N-400, it doesn't matter. But I'd do before.

Also, if she already lives in the state for over 3 months, she doesn't need to wait for 3 months after filing AR-11. Residency is not proved by filing AR-11. It's proved by having utility bills, driver's license with correct address, taxes filed in the state. Does she have all that?

I see. Her paycheck and taxes are in the correct addresses but her state ID is in a different address than where she is residing right now, it is still in the same town and state, just in a different house. I already asked her to go to the DMV to change it.

Another question, do I need to file 2 AR11, one for her move from Illinois to California in 2017 and the other one for within California?

Yes, she should absolutely have up to date address on state ID.

I don't know whether it makes any sense filing for the first move now. I'd only file for the most recent move.
