Hello,

I know that there have been a few discussions on this but I have found it tricky to find a definitive answer.

I am currently awaiting my K1 Visa, (UK to US) I haven't schedule my medical exam or had my interview scheduled yet, estimating that I-129F will be approved in June 2024.

I have already requested and received my vaccine records, it seems I have everything I need other than the Hepatitis B vaccination. My questions are, should I:

A. Get my first shot now, ahead of my medical? (I am travelling to the US to visit for 2 months next week, so I won't be able to get my second until I return in late June).

B. Wait until my medical and get the first shot then? (It is then unlikely that I'll be able to get the second or third shot until I'm in the US, does this matter?).

C. If I get my first shot at the medical, is this record used for the AOS process once we are married? i.e, would I actually need to get the second and third shot when in the US, or is the first shot given at the medical in the UK enough for the AOS?

I hope that is clear!

Thanks a lot

IIRC the second Hep B shot needs to be taken 6 months after the first.

There are also multiple shots needed for other vaccines but for immigration purposes only the first dose is required.

The medical from K1 is also valid for 1 year.

Theoretically, if you get the medical, get the visa, enter US and adjust during the one year window you should be fine.

I haven't ever read of applicants needing to receive more vaccines unless the medical doctor has indicated they did not complete all the requirements.

Ok, thanks.

So the best option would be to get the first shot during the medical and then get the remaining shots when in the US (if at all)? If I get the remaining shots in the US, I won't need to go through the Civil Surgeon process, as it already shows the first shot was given during the K1 medical and that medical is valid for 1 year and will also be used for the AOS?

Yep, That’s my understanding.

Only one dose of any series is currently required to complete the DS3025.

Completing the series of any vaccine is a PERSONAL choice and has zilch to do with immigration policy.

And even if you aren't eligible or able to get a required vaccine at your PP appointment, there are waivers for that.

It's not a complicated as made out to be.

Read through the CDC immigration vaccine requirements page. Easy Google.

I believe it will be FAR cheaper if you can possibly complete the series before coming to the US.
