Hi folks

I had my interview today after filling for Mandamus. I would like to know your opinion
Officer was friendly, started saying this was an “easy case” but then started asking questions not really related to abuse or marriage but he was kind of “in doubt” about my case.

He was very honest by saying I had a very weak VAWA case and that he doesn’t know how it got approved but “that was not his business” he wasn’t trained for that. I got so nervous

By the end of the interview he said he was going to recommend my case for approval and handed me that white paper saying my case is under review.

since it is a Mandamus case he needs to give an answer by the next feel days. He said he would try to get it “approved” by today or tomorrow. Nothing got updated today so I’m hoping for some news tomorrow. Anyways I’m still very worried about his comments about my case.

Can they deny a green card for his “suspicious” about an already approved vawa?

Do you know anyone who officer said he was going to recommend for approval and ended up being denied?

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Yes

Oh boy -- Sunday!  Time for our highly effective Official Weekly VAWA-Thread Joke.

In honor of the Olympics, here are some Sports jokes:

=============================================

FOUR SPORTS JOKES

"Let me see your permit," the game warden said to Leroy.  "You can't fish without one."

"I don't need one," said Leroy.  "I'm doing fine with worms."

"Did you hear about the high-diver who leaped into a glass of Pepsi?" Doug asked Judy.

"No!  How many bones did she break?"

"None," Doug replied.  "It was a soft drink."

Billy sighed, "I wish I had the money to buy a million baseballs!"

His pal Dickie said, "What would you do with a million baseballs?"

"Nothing," said Billy.  "I just wish I had that much money."

"Did you hear about poor Juan?" Carlos asked his friend.  "He was killed on the golf course."

"No!  How did it happen?"

"A flying golf ball went right through his head."

"How terrible!" said the friend.  "A hole-in-Juan!"

:P

Hello guys,

I have not been able to log in using my old account therefore, had to open a new one with a similar name. I had to find a way to come back here and give my testimony. I promised a few years ago that I will come back here to write about the outcome of my vawa application whether negative or positive.

I am a vawa applicant who started a vawa processing while abroad in 2019 and have been able to follow it through till completion. It was a long journey and a very hard one, but God finally did it for me. I received my Ib1 visa through consular process end of last year and entered the USA without any problems in january. No questions asked. I carried my own yellow file and handed it to an officer who took me to a secondary room. He took my picture and finger prints. Took my passport and returned it within 2 minutes. And told me welcome to USA.  I couldn't believe it. Those who are applying from abroad. Keep pushing. Don't give up. God is going to make away for you. My journey started in 2019 and ended successfully in 2023. God bless you all.

Hi fam, how long did it take for your visa to be issued after the interview?

Good morning

Does anyone know if I fill for marriage annulment (grounds: bigamy on my spouse side) AFTER having my green card approved- I could potentially have problems for naturalization?

You need to talk to an attorney

Good morning!! Today my i-360 and i485 statuses changed to “Correspondence was received and USCIS is reviewing it”( even though i didnt send any additional correspondence besides the originally filed packages i360/i485 back in May 2022). Meanwhile i received 3 Prima Facias and recently filed for EAD renewal.
i hope this updated status means that USCIS is looking into my i360 so to make a decision??!! If anyone experienced something similar, i would very appreciate your insight!!!)))

Probably they touched your file. When is your Prima Facia supposed to expire?

I once got the same notification, and later received prima Facia in the mail.

Do not file for annulment.

Divorce or Annulment

A person’s marital status may be terminated by a judicial divorce or by an annulment. A divorce or annulment breaks the marital relationship. The applicant is no longer the spouse of a U.S. citizen if the marriage is terminated by a divorce or annulment. Accordingly, such an applicant is ineligible to naturalize as the spouse of a U.S. citizen if the divorce or annulment occurs before or after the naturalization application is filed.[24]

The result of annulment is to declare a marriage null and void from its inception. An annulment is usually retroactive, meaning that the marriage is considered to be invalid from the beginning. A court's jurisdiction to grant an annulment is set forth in the various divorce statutes and generally requires residence or domicile of the parties in that jurisdiction. When a marriage has been annulled, it is documented by a court order or decree.

https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-12-part-g-chapter-2#:~:text=The applicant is no longer, the naturalization application is filed.

There is one decision about this matter, link below.  The doctrine applies to all annulments  irrespective of the ground.
