Sunday!  Time for our Official Weekly VAWA-Thread Joke (known for prompting approvals and good news, assuming that correlation = causation):

=============================================================
A FEW DUMB JOKES

Every day, my wife takes the car out, and she comes back with the same question:  "Guess who I ran into?"

My wife is really into do-it-yourself.  Every time I ask her to fix something, she says, "Oh, do it yourself."

My wife does her own decorating, but she overdoes it.  The other day, I opened the refrigerator, and there was a lampshade on the light bulb.

A dog bit a chunk out of my leg the other day.  My friend said, "Did you put anything on it?"  I said, "No; he liked it as it was."

A leopard went to see a psychiatrist.  He said, "Every time I look at my girlfriend, I see spots before my eyes."  The psychiatrist said, "That's only natural."  The leopard said, "But doctor -- she's a zebra."

"Hey, Siri -- open the App Store."

"I don't see an app called 'App Store.'  You'll need to get that from the App Store first."

:P

Wednesday!  Time for our Semiofficial Semiweekly VAWA-Thread Joke:

=============================================================

I WANT...

A drunk fell into a taxi, gave the driver a $20 bill, and bellowed, "I wanna get screwed."

The cabbie dutifully drove him to the suburbs and pointed out a townhouse.  The drunk staggered up to the front door, banged on it, and screamed, "I wanna get screwed!"

A female voice answered, "Slip $100 under the door."  The drunk pushed $100 under the door.  Nothing happened.

After a while, the drunk banged on the door again and screamed, "I wanna get screwed!"

The female voice answered, "What?  Again?"

Hi everyone! I hope you are all well. Does anyone heard back after long background check? How long did it take and did you get approved or a RFE or? My case is pending since Oct 2019…

Hi FaithOct19,
Mine took more than 5 years to get transferred to NBC. I reached out to the congressman's office for help. Multiple and consistent inquiries from their office actually finally got me an interview date, 4 months after the transfer happened to NBC. I still have to go through the interview. Please reach out to your congressman and keep reaching out every 90 days for status updates.

Can anyone help answer if I do not have the original for my marriage certificate with the abuser, will it be an issue at the interview? There is no way for me to get it. The wedding did not happen in the USA.

Are you expecting an interview? When is your interview?

Have you contacted your congress/ Senator?

Yes 2 different congresswomen, twice the Senator and twice the ombudsman office. Always getting the same response: “pending background check”.

what you can do is now you can conduct your own background check via third party and send it to USCIS.

There are few people who had done that in the past and got the favorable result. If you search that on previous VAWA threads you will find their response.

I will try to retrieve the post. Thank you!!

Hi fam,

I’ve been preparing for my Ib1 interview abroad, and the pain I have been experiencing seeing my file and the injuries I endured. I know I’m still trying to heal from the trauma I lived. but I’ve been avoiding going back to that trauma.

so since the interview done through consular processing at the US embassy abroad mostly have the officer ask about the abuse, I know it’s still a traumatizing sensitive topic and experience for me to think about or remember or talk about. I’m worried about crying during my interview reliving these memories. I’m worried that getting emotional and crying during the interview will have a negative outcome. How do we go about this? Anyone had any experience getting emotional during their interview?

I was just going through my case file to print out the important documents, and I cried going through these memories especially the physical injuries.

im gonna do my best to stay positive and strong, but it has been a lot of stress for years.

any advice, thoughts, or words of encouragement?

thank you ~
