I received VAWA approval notice online

If i were you i would do two things.

First i will do FOIA request to see if USCIS reopened my case.

Second i would take that approval notice and go to field office to find out the status of my i-485. Just to see what USCIS would tell me about my i-360.

I did presume that in 2018 you already had filed a I-130 and I-485 based on marriage to abuser …and then  requested I-485 be held until VAWA ( I-360) got approved.

If you filed I-360 and I-485 right off the bat in 2018 , then you should also have copies of the I-864 W filed at that time. ..

Did you have an attorney…and do you have complete copies of what was filed ? Maybe check the receipt notices to see if I-130 was ever filed

i filed i485 and i130. 2020 we were getting divorce and my lawyer went interview and asked them to hold i485 since we were applying for i360. I was able to renew my ead while my i360 was pending. Last week my i360 approved! I485 still shows interview scheduled for Oct 2020. I just checked i 130 it says denied dec 2020 which is Normal right?

That one was for me tho?:) sorry

Yes for you. Your case should move along soon …but @balo101 pro active actions are the best  free ways to keep on top of case . Sometimes it works to bring attention to it and speed it up.

Absolutely. I helped and encouraged a friend of mine to go to field office to get the update on the his i-485. He was expecting a interview for i-485. However, when he went to filed office he was told that his application is admin close therefore, he needs to go to court to finish his business with them first. The field office trip was really worth otherwise god knows how long he would wait for interview latter.

I received VAWA approval notice online

@i-need-help-pls That happened to me as well. My case was “approved” online in January 2023. Couple days after it was “reopened”. I never received any approval letter and upon contacting them through my Congressman they were clear that my Vawa was NOT approved. It was only an error in their system.
However, last Semptember (2023), it showed approved again online, but this time I DID receive approval letter and C31 work permit.

So I’m pretty sure your case is not approved, but hang in there it will be approved soon!

I’m a 2017 filer. It’s been a long journey.

I’m not waiting on my I485 to move forward and it’s so painful. Haven’t received any RFE regarding Medical exam or interview letter yet.

Do you guys have an idea of how much longer it should take? It’s been 5 month since my I360 got approved. Thank you!

Have you tried to make an infopass appointment or contacted your congress person?

yes my congressman is actively helping me. After vawa approval I’m now technically in the regular processing time so I’m trying to be patient but really wanted to have an idea of how long it should take from vawa approval to 485 decision

It depends on your field office how busy they are. It could be anywhere 3 to 12 months. After my VAWA approval i made 3 appointments to get the update on my i-485. I would suggest you do the same. You have nothing to loss.

How do you do the appointments? I can’t make appointments through Emma or phone.

And how does it work, do you go there in person?

my office is Newark NJ

thank you

Thank you for the information. How do you get to speak to EMMA? Were you able to speak to a real person? Also, does going there helped you? What did they say once you got there?
