Good evening everyone,

I shared my story back in July 2024, about my VAWA being approved. At the initial stage of filing, I filed i360, i485, i765, and i131 concurrently.

Seeing that my Vawa was approved in July, I reached out to USCIS to check on my i485 which the representative state is out of normal processing time. The representative placed a service request for the i485 a few days ago (maybe a week or two).

Today I got an update on my approved i360 stating that Correspondence was received and USCIS is reviewing it.

I am super worried because my case was already approved and I didn’t send anything to them. Does anything know what this might be or have any experience with this?

Please explain if you can.

Did you receive the approval notice?

Personally i think they just touched your file and that update could be a system glitch.

No I did not receive the approval notice. I only got the 2 year work authorization.

My thing is I placed the service request for the i485 which is out of normal processing time so why are they reviewing the VAWA instead of the i485. Also I learn that my case is now at NBC, I thought from July until now, they would transfer it to my local office.

probably they will send you a approval notice. Let's wait and see if you receive anything from the USCIS.

Other thing i would do is to visit local filed office to inquiry about the i-485.

My VAWA was approved more than 1 month ago, USCIS sent only C-31 EAD without approval notice. After 4 weeks waiting, I reached out to my senator to help request my approval notice from USCIS. USCIS responded in a week saying that they have issued my approval notice — that was when my case status online finally changed to “Case Was Approved.” They also said they sent my 485 to NBC within 1 month of VAWA approval — I haven’t seen any activity on my 485 yet, still waiting!

You need your VAWA approval notice in hand. I would advise you reach out to your congressman to help request your approval notice. If the current status update on your approved VAWA means anything (which I don’t think, probably a glitch or someone touched your file), they will tell your congressman in their response. The update on your 360 may also be as a result of the recent 485 inquiry you made with USCIS rep.

It is still Sunday, so here in timely fashion is our Official Weekly VAWA-Thread Joke:

THE CLASSY NURSING HOME

A family whose ailing mother needed constant medical supervision decided to bring her to an expensive nursing home for a day, to try it out.

The next morning, the nurses bathed her, fed her a tasty breakfast, and sat her in a chair at a window overlooking a lovely flower garden.  She seemed OK, but after a while she slowly started to lean over sideways in her chair.  Two attentive nurses immediately rushed to catch her and straighten her out.

Again, she seemed OK, but after a while she started to tilt to the other side.  The nurses rushed back and once more brought her upright.  This went on all morning, with the nurses making sure that the old woman didn't fall.

Later, the family arrived to see how she was adjusting to her potential new home.

"So, Mom, how is it here?  Are they treating you all right?" they asked.

"It's very nice," she said, "except they won't let me fart."

Wednesday means it's time for our hilarious, ultra-helpful Semiofficial Semiweekly VAWA-Thread Joke:

===========================================
THE TRUTH OF THE MATTER

While a man was dying, his wife was maintaining a candlelight vigil by his side.

She held his fragile hand, tears running down her face.  Her praying woke him from his slumber.  He looked up, and his pale lips began to move slightly.

"My darling," he whispered.

"Hush, my love," she said.  "Rest, don't talk."

He was insistent. "I have something that I must confess," he said in a tired voice.

"There isn't anything to confess," replied his weeping wife.  "Everything's OK.  Go to sleep."

The man blurted out, "No, no -- I must die in peace.  I... I slept with your sister, your best friend, her best friend, and your mother!"

"I know," whispered his wife.  "That's why I poisoned you."

I filed my VAWA (360 and 485 concurrently) back in 9/2021 (also the receipt date). It's been more than 3 years. I know there are increasing amount of cases and the processing time now is 41 months (compared to 17 months back in 2021). I just have too much emotion that I cannot express in my real life. My abusive husband passed away in 2023. Our kid is in preschool. I am stuck at where I am. I think I am patient, but I just don't know when will this sad chapter of my life get over.

Feel the pain. But there’s nothing we can do. Just wait and watch. We are in for a long bumpy ride.

Because of CRS (Can't Remember Stuff) Disease, we present our Official Weekly VAWA-Thread Joke not on Sunday, but today, Monday, Veterans' Day, with appropriate acknowledgment of the occasion:

===========================================

HOW THE MILITARY SECURES A BUILDING

The reason the Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force bicker among themselves is that they don't speak the same language.  For instance, take the simple phrase "secure the building."

The Army will post guards around the place.

The Navy will turn out the lights and lock the doors.

The Marines will kill everybody inside and set up a headquarters.

The Air Force will take out a 5-year lease with an option to purchase.

We have not had a Blonde joke in a while, so here is our Semiofficial Semiweekly VAWA-Thread (Blonde) Joke:

===========================================
EMERGENCY ON THE ROAD

A car got a flat tire on the Interstate one day.  The blonde driver eased it onto the shoulder of the road.  She carefully stepped out of the car and opened the trunk.  She took out two cardboard men, unfolded them, and stood them at the rear of the vehicle, facing oncoming traffic.  The lifelike cardboard men were in trench coats and appeared to be naked.

Not surprisingly, traffic became snarled and backed up.  A police car soon arrived.  The officer, clearly enraged, approached the blonde with the disabled vehicle.

He yelled, "What is going on here?"

"My car broke down, officer" said the blonde, calmly.

"Well, what are these obscene cardboard pictures doing here by the road?!" asked the Officer.

"Those are my emergency flashers!"

Hi everyone,

My previous post is above. I called USCIS yesterday and was told that my i485 was at Vermont. Keep in mind my Vawa was approved in July and I was told that my i485 was at NBC, now yesterday they said it’s at Vermont.

Today I got an update stating that they sent Request for Initial Evidence for my i485. I am very nervous and have no idea as to what they might be asking for.

1. Has anyone ever seen Vermont approve a i485 before?
2. Do you have any experience or idea as to what evidence they are requesting?

3. How long before I get the notice?

I appreciate your support.
