Oh our goodness -- Sunday means it's time for our Official Weekly VAWA-Thread Joke:

===========================================

THE SMART ROBBER

A robber went into a bank.  He pulled a gun on the bank clerk and manager, saying, "Give me all the money!  I need it to set myself up in a trade or profession.  You know, initial investment is needed to cover the overheads until my cash flow is established and turned into passive income."

The bank manager said to the clerk, "You'd better do what he says... I think he means business."

:P

Did they ask for his EAD 😄😄

This happens to me, I think they wish to approve you initially without interview but alot of information like address,divorce if any after you filled,job changes and so on need to be corrected and that can be done during your in person interview.

Hi!! Can I do an uncontested divorce if my ex husband does not sign the papers? I was going to send a certified mail and I'm sure he is not answering within 35 days - that's the required wait time in NJ court. I really don't want to contact or see him to get the papers signed but I really want to get this done. Thank you.

You need to do personal service ( someone other than you), mailing it to him won’t work .

Hi they schedule my interview and my lawyer received the notice already 20 days ago. Today there is an update on my case “initial review” and post office couldn’t deliver..: what’s that?!?? Plz help

Your attorney gets a copy of any notice , he should have it.

‘An ‘initial review “ status can mean different things…such as we transferred the file or we need something from you or we changed interview date.
..You should still show up on the scheduled interview date.

It is Wednesday, and close to Election Day, so here is our politically oriented Semiofficial Semiweekly VAWA-Thread Joke:

===========================================

A POLITICIAN IN THE VILLAGE

A politician visited a village and asked what their needs were.

"We have two basic needs, honorable sir," said the villager leader.  "First, we have a hospital, but no doctor."

Upon hearing this, the politician brought out his phone.  After speaking for a while, he told them, "Don't worry -- a doctor will be here tomorrow.  What is your second problem?"

"Second, sir, there is no cellphone reception anywhere in this village."

Has anyone opened a ticket with USCIS for non delivery of receipt or a card? If yes then how that process have been and how long it takes for them to reissue a card and mail back to the applicant/petitioner?

Personally I'd do this through a senator/congressman. VAWA privacy protections make any kind of inquiries a mess.

Though it also depends on where it went and what category it is, if it's a C10 (from COR) or C09 in removal proceedings then I think it might fall outside VAWA's privacy protections due to just going to a different place than the humanitarian units. Do you have any notice regarding it? Which office is listed on the bottom.

Contradictions without citations only make you look dumb.

It’s NBC and I got the 797 ead approved receipt. Just haven’t received the card yet. I opened up ticket with uscis to issue a new one and got a new date to

not inquire till Nov 27. Amazing USCIS.

Good evening everyone,

I shared my story back in July 2024, about my VAWA being approved. At the initial stage of filing, I filed i360, i485, i765, and i131 concurrently.

Seeing that my Vawa was approved in July, I reached out to USCIS to check on my i485 which the representative state is out of normal processing time. The representative placed a service request for the i485 a few days ago (maybe a week or two).

Today I got an update on my approved i360 stating that Correspondence was received and USCIS is reviewing it.

I am super worried because my case was already approved and I didn’t send anything to them. Does anything know what this might be or have any experience with this?

Please explain if you can.

Are you talking about a reversal of i360? That it was approved and now the status has changed from

Approved—>under review?

if not then

I believe you inquired about 485. It does not get approved just by default. USCIS before approving 485 will of course review it. But since i360 is approved it wouldn’t be much of a problem to approve 485. It is normal.
