Did you get your IL?

Fingers crossed for you too! 🤞

Have you been able to register your appointment?

Yes,we did...but the courier thing was confusing. It seems like the visa documents get sent to a DX courier delivery depot and he then has to pick it up(?)

I think we're going to pay the extra to have it delivered to his residence and have him sign for it.

Hi, Congratulations to all who have had their IL!

We were DQ'd on the 11th April - is anyone else still waiting for their IL from the 11th or earlier? I've seen lots of IL go out to those DQd a little later.

Also, does anyone know if the letters are sent out only at the begining of the month, or are they sent at intervals throughout the month?

You should have had your IL by now. What’s your visa category? When you check the status of your case online, what does it say? Sometimes, emails from the NVC go to spam. They usually send them out once a month. This last time, they have given a two-month gap..

Since my wife already had her interview in June and our case is pending review, I thought I'd share our wild adventure so you folks with August interviews know what to expect. Strap in, it's a rollercoaster!

Her interview was on June 10th, 2024. She had everything meticulously uploaded to the portal and made copies to bring along, because, you know, who doesn’t love a good backup plan? I tried to tag along to the embassy, but they said, "Nope, you can’t join her." Apparently, I'm about as welcome as a skunk at a garden party. So, I cut myself loose, flew back to the USA, and she went in solo for her CR1 interview.

When she reached the embassy, there was a line longer than a Black Friday sale. But my wife, being the hero she is, waltzed straight to the counter and declared her mission. She was admitted right away, and within 30 minutes, she was at the interview window, ready for interrogation.

They asked her all kinds of questions, covering the basics and then some:

  • How did you both meet? (Spoiler: Not on a reality TV show.)
  • Describe your wedding ceremony. (She managed to leave out the part where Uncle Bob danced on the table.)
  • What does your husband do for work? (Besides driving her crazy.)
  • When did you last meet your husband? (Hopefully not "just now" at the embassy gate.)
  • How does he send you money? If he does, do you have any proof? (Yes, we do... and no, not in a briefcase of unmarked bills.)

They leafed through our wedding album, asking about every photo like it was a game of ‘Guess Who?’: “Who’s this?”, “Who’s that?”, “Where’s your family?”, “Where’s his family?” It was like playing 20 questions with a wedding photographer.

They also wanted proof of our conversations, like WhatsApp or phone call logs. As if the emojis and GIFs we send aren't proof of true love.

Anyway, at the end, they handed her a 221(g) denial letter and asked for proof of our WhatsApp chat history, financial transactions, my travel history (yes, those glamorous airline tickets), and more photos together. We submitted everything the next day via email. They confirmed they received it all and will review it when they can. No specific timeframe, so we’re in the waiting room of life. They currently have my wife’s passport and our wedding album, which I hope they enjoy as much as we did.

Here’s my pro tip: learn from our saga. Upload all documents to the portal and don’t go to the interview missing anything. Upload snapshots of your communication, financial transactions, more photos together, and travel history. If we had done this, we might have gotten our visa the same day. But now, we’re left with nothing but crickets and sky-high anxiety.

Wishing you all the best and see you on the other side soon! Keep your sanity in check and your documents in order!

It's a CR1 spouse visa. When I check online, it's all accepted, and the last email we received was to say we were DQd. I've checked, spam, etc. and nothing. I did email the NVC and Embassy a week or so ago, and got an email from NVC to say we were DQd and to wait, and then a generic response from the embassy to check FAQs. Very frustrating, as we've been waiting forever now. I'm probably going to try to email the embassy again.

Please keep checking your status here https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx and it’s not a bad idea to contact NVC and asked them why is your delayed when others are issued IL…

Thanks! Will keep checking, not sure if that link works for our visa, but I'm going on the portal reguarly - I've also emailed the NVC and Embassy again. Fingers crossed they respond quickly!
