I have two questions:

Q1: I got my first notice in June 25, 2007 and I am wondering how long I have to wait before getting the 2nd NOA? 2 months? 3 months? any idea?

Q2: It is a good idea to be with your fiance during the interview appointment? Do US Consulate allows you to be with your fiance in the same room during the interview?

Did you file for Adjustment of Status or a K-1 visa? Your post suggests you're still a K-1 applicant (and therefore posted in the wrong section of these forums), so I'll just go from there: how long until you get your NOA2 depends a lot on which USCIS service center you filed with!

And I do believe it's fine for the US citizen to be present at their fiancé(e)'s interview abroad.

Timeline:

2005-04-14: met online

2005-09-03: met in person

2007-02-26: filed for K-1

2007-03-19: K-1 approved

2007-06-11: K-1 in hand

2007-07-03: arrived in USA

2007-07-21: got married, yay!

2007-07-28: applied for green card

2008-02-19: conditional green card in hand

2010-01-05: applied for removal of conditions

2010-06-14: 10-year green card in hand

2013-11-19: applied for US citizenship

2014-02-10: became a US citizen

2014-02-22: applied for US passport

2014-03-14: received US passport

Thank you for reply...

I filed K1 visa application... From what I read about other VJ'ers, Vermont Center is a bit slower than any other center, and anyone has a clue?

VSC was traditionally the faster service center - that may have changed with the new fee and new mailing system in place after July 31st. You can check your case against similar timelines at the top of the page.

Sometimes the USC fiance is not permitted to be at the consulate for the interview, but that's dependent on the consulate that the OP is going to.

Removal of conditions @ VSC

9/4/2010 - sent!

9/14/2010 - NOA

just check timelines for referrals. i think its CSC not vermont is the slowest. still, it depends with the package u sent. RFE's makes the process long.

You might take a look at the immigration timelines link at the top of the page, that could give you a clue as to how long the approval will take for the service center you filed at.

Good luck

As for the first question, I have no idea...each case is different, but the average is 90 days.

As for the second question, I was talking to a consulate in Manila and they do not allow the fiance in the room with the person being interviewed. This was relayed to me only two days ago... or on the 23rd of September!

Neil,

I have a friend who personally was in the room with their fiancee for the interview in Manila. Also, in the Philippines section of our board there are some who said they recently went there for the interview with their fiancee. Not sure if you received bad info or if they changed their rules there within the last week.

Yes, this is a new policy. I was told the interview is for the applicant... and not the petitioner. Hope this clears things up a bit.!
