No NOA1 text / letter for our i-129f after 31 days... when do we worry something has gone wrong? (Merged threads)

Hi everyone,

new to the process but we filed our petition 2 weeks ago and still have no text, the check has not been cashed, nothing. According to tracking it looks like it arrived 1 week ago. Have seen people who filed after us already get their texts and starting to get really concerned. Should I be worried that we’ve heard nothing?

It can take anywhere from 2 to 3 weeks to get the NOA1. I've seen some folks here on VJ take a bit longer. You were able to verify it arrived so that's good! Now you just have to wait. I know it's stressful! I'm just starting the process myself!

Did you fill out the G-1145 (E-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance - link below!) and attach it to the front of your application? They'll send you a text and/or email once they've received it. If you didn't, don't worry, you'll get the NOA1 through the mail, it'll just take a bit longer!

Yes, filled out the G-1445 and attached to the front so hoped to get a text - have seen lots of people who sent theirs after us and already have a text so I’m starting to get pretty panicked.

Try not to compare your case to others! Easier said than done, I know. But it'll only add to your stress. You'll get your notice just give it a bit more time!

I did get a text. I sent my application on February 6th, they received it in TX on the 8th and I got a text notification on the 13th. I just received the actual receipt of it in the mail yesterday (Feb. 20th)

Now that I think about it, Monday was a holiday so offices were probably closed!

From what I've seen in the forums here that's a pretty typical wait time. Every case is different. If you're truly worried you could call the USCIS Customer Service line but at only 10 days I suspect they're going to tell you just to be patient. Unfortunately, things move slowly with immigration. Sorry, I wish I could put your mind at ease! Good luck!

Text messages are unreliable. I’ve read plenary of posts where a text message notification was never received despite filing the form. I do not think this is something to lose sleep over, especially if it says “delivered” on tracking.

Thanks I really do appreciate it - just hope we hear back soon.

First of all, they haven't cashed the check yet.  That means they haven't even looked at your application yet.  You said it arrived 1 week ago, so 5 business days.  Give it some time, USCIS processes an ungodly amount of paperwork and it takes them a while to get around to even opening the envelope.  Also don't be surprised if you never get a text even if you sent in the G-1445 form.  Text messages were always hit or miss on our applications.

Think of this as the practice run for all of the patient waiting you must do throughout the whole process.
