Perhaps germane (no pun intended) during this influx of "southerners":

TEACHING MATH THROUGH THE DECADES

1950s:  A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100.  His cost of production is 4/5 of the price.  What is his profit?

1960s:  A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100.  His cost of production is 4/5 of the price, or $80.  What is his profit?

1970s:  A logger exchanges a set "L" of lumber for a set "M" of money.  The cardinality of set "M" is 100.  Each element is worth 1 dollar.  Make 100 dots representing the elements of the set "M."  The set "C," the cost of production, contains 20 fewer points than set "M" contains.  Represent the set "C" as a subset of set "M" and answer the following question:  What is the cardinality of the set "P" of profits?

1980s:  A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100.  His cost of production is $80 and his profit is $20.  Underline the number 20.

1990s:  By cutting down beautiful forest trees, the logger makes $20.  What do you think of this way of making a living? Topic for class participation after answering the question:  How did the forest birds, owls, and squirrels feel as the logger cut down the trees?  There are no wrong answers, and if you feel like crying, it's OK.

2000s:  By laying off 40% of its loggers, a company improves its stock price from $80 to $100.  How much capital gain per share does the CEO make by exercising his stock options at $80?  Assume that capital gains are no longer taxed, because this encourages investment.

2010s:  If you have special needs or just feel that you need assistance because of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, childhood memories, etc., then don't answer, and the correct answer will be provided for you.  There are no wrong answers.

2017:  A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100.  How can this action be used to impeach President Trump?

2022:  Un inmigrante cruza la frontera sur con contrabando escondido en un camión maderero.  ¿Cuál es su beneficio económico de esto?

:P

HAHAHAHAHA!

2024: A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $500 because of inflation.  His cost of production is $400 + $300 for gas to fill up the truck. He will file chapter 11 in a month when his savings are depleted after 3.5 years of Bidenomics. Define communism.

Now We're Supposed to Panic Over Sloth Fever

[...] This is the Oropouche virus (great... now we're all going to have to learn how to spell that) and it can lead to what is commonly referred to as sloth fever.  The majority of people who become infected will not suffer serious medical consequences and generally recover within a few days to a month.  However, a smaller percentage can develop very serious secondary ailments and even die.  Just to put some icing on this already nauseating cake, there is currently no vaccine that prevents contraction of the Oropouche virus and no medication capable of treating it.  The largest number of cases reported thus far in the U.S. have shown up in Florida, but more on that in a moment.  [...]

Well I said that years ago when people thought 'rona was over and claimed something like that would never happen again. I laughed out loud and said 'wait until 2024'. They used to have the BLM stuff every election year but that kinda blew up in their faces and apparently a pandemic is very useful to steal an election, so that's what they will use again and again to get what they want. They won't succeed though.

Illegal Immigrants Try to Board School Buses in California

Maybe this story will catch the interest of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris, seeing as it happened in her state, involves school buses (which she loves as much as Venn diagrams), and it reflects poorly on her as being "tough as nails" on illegal immigration in California.

FOX 5 San Diego reports that a group of illegal immigrants tried to hijack two school buses along Highway 94 in San Diego County.  The Jamul-Dulzura Union School district has issued a warning that if a school bus encounters a group of migrants at a stop, it will keep rolling.

This is not comforting.  [...]

NYC Migrant Shelter Turns Into Teen Fight Club

Back in January, the former Wyndham Garden Hotel in Queens, New York was sold to Long Island-based Bayrock Capital for $24 million.  But the new owners were not planning to offer lush accommodations to tourists visiting the Big Apple.  They immediately took out a contract with the Department of Homeless Services and began converting the resort into housing for illegal migrants.

The results have not painted a picture of success in a city already overrun by illegals.  Neighbors have filed countless complaints with the police and the Department of Homeland Security.  Every night, the sidewalk in front of the shelter is overrun with minors ranging in age from only six or seven up through their later teens.  Neighbors say that the children have turned the area into their own "teen fight club," with screaming and shrieking piercing the night and making it impossible for many legal residents to sleep.

Multiple injuries have been reported and the security guards who are supposed to oversee the site frequently do nothing about it.  Many of the neighbors are fed up and they want the shelter to be closed, but the city is thus far ignoring their calls for help.  [...]

Thanks, Border Czar Kamala!  75 Percent of Arrests in NYC Are Illegal Immigrants

Remember when the Left insisted that illegal immigrants commit far fewer crimes than American citizens?  Ya know, if you ignore the fact that 100% of them have broken immigration laws.  But we apparently don't enforce those anymore.

In Aurora, Colorado we've seen Venezuelan gangs take over apartment buildings and now they're doing the same thing in Chicago, Illinois.  Seems newsy.

So does this:  [...]
