hello there,

I have my interview on 13th March, so I gathered my documents but I am not sure I understand what they mean by 'Affidavit of support I-134- current tax return.'

My boyfriend is filling the I-134.  He also provided a current salary sheet, a warranty deed for the house and a Property tax statement for the year 2023.

Is this necessary or enough? I can't find any explanations.

Thanks

Your boyfriend will need a completed I-134, his most recent tax transcript from the IRS which will show his earnings and that he's paid taxes.

This is mentioned in the instructions for the I-134. https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/i-134instr.pdf London will also want to see an employer letter, stating position, how long worked, and salary. These items you need to take with you to your interview.

He needs to submit his most current tax  return or transcript. The transcript is preferred and can be found at: https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript Right now it would be the 2022 return, unless he's already filed his 2023 return.

London allows you to self sponsor

erm, not sure what that means...I am not employed...how could I self sponsor?

A person can self sponsor via London if they certainly are employed and make enough or have enough assets. However if the boyfriend is sponsoring you then they are the person to meet that percentage threshold provided they can. If they can't a co-sponsor can also be used.

You do not need to be employed, most would not be. They seem to be looking for enough to last the 90 days.

ha ha that is fun, thanks. I am actually Italian, originally, and I've been in the UK for 28 years, I reckon :) so I mix the two languages (American and British English) because I choose what sounds better to me LOL

Really? I have not heard of this before! Can I just get this clarified since we are particularly panicked about the state of the layoffs over there right now so anything could happen!

So you are saying proof of my income (currently double the poverty amount but obviously will have to give up job before leaving) and savings (currently 125% of the poverty amount for two people) would suffice as a self sponsor for a k-1 incase my fiancé lost their job suddenly?

I’m guessing in this current climate it would be beneficial to state my assets and income on the affidavit of support then?

You said your job will not continue

I am out of touch with what the Consulate current want it was minimal when I did it

Ah okay sorry it’s just you said you could self-sponsor through London so I wondered what that meant. I guess I interpreted it wrong.
