After we got the greencard, we went back to the SS office, showed them the greencard and got a new card. Same number but the new card doesn't have the work restriction printed on it (which made some employers nervous if they didn't understand what it referred to).

Hello to all,

If I just received my Green Card, do I need to renew my social security card ?. Right now it says something like "work permitted. Check DHS document" ... because I get the EAD from New York airport the day I came into the country.

Regards,

Martin

You are also suppose to keep the SSA up to date on your immigrant status, so you have a couple of reasons to visit them about.....

YMMV
