I know most people will get asked 6 questions

You will be asked 6-10 questions out of the 100 official questions.  You must score 60%.

Super exciting! Did you file right when you became eligible or did you wait a day or more? Wishing you good luck :)

@GerLA Wishing you the best of luck also. I filed about 5 months after I became eligible. I just didn't have the time to get around to it.

Always lead with love ❤️

Hello everyone! Preparing to file online early 90 days/3 year rule.

This is maybe a ridiculous question, but I’ve been going through so many threads, have not found anyone asking. So maybe that should already answer my question 😅 but just in case…why not ask.

For part 9 (time outside US): do we give for 5 years, as they request? Or since I’m filling under the 3 year rule, is it ok to put only the past 3 years? Because otherwise, of course 2 years out of the 5 are outside the US (which looks really bad), since I was officially able to cross the border 3 years ago (like of course I was not in the US until I got fully approved).

I feel ridiculous asking, but I also feel ridiculous showing that 2 out of the past 5 years were outside the US. Like I’m sure MANY people fall into this category.

Appreciate any insights!

I'm no expert, but on the form it does say "Date you left the United States" and "Date you returned to the United States", did you actually leave and come back during those 2 years?  I'm assuming no, so it wouldn't apply.

5 Year Rule= Use info for past 5 years

3 Year Rule= Use info for past 3 years

We are filing this month for my wife, her 3 years since green card issued is June 1. I fill out the forms for her. Should I put my name on the application as the preparer? I do all the paperwork and she's studying for the test. We are filing online, so that's what I mean by "paperwork". I have all the documents uploaded that they ask for. Is there anything else I should put for additional evidence?

I'd encourage her to be more proactive about her N-400. She's about to become a citizen with all rights and responsibilities. You doing paperwork and putting yourself as preparer may come across as her not being proficient in English. She's ultimately responsible for accuracy of all information on the form. Unless she has a health reason or of a senior age, she must be able to answer everything at the interview and comment on her answers on the form.

I would help filling the forms together, going through each question, and not put myself as a preparer on a form. It could hurt IMHO. The very first question she may get is why didn't she fill everything herself.

That's only my opinion and not a legal advice.

Hello everyone! My husband just mailed his application.  We are located in Houston, Texas.  He adjusted status 10 years ago in April through an immigration judge.  We used the same attorney he used for his removal proceedings.  Kind of nervous but hopefully everything goes well for him.  He does have 2 criminal charges.  DWI from 2000, he left and reentered inspected late 2000, and a possession of marijuana charge from 2011.  That last one put him in removal proceedings, but he adjusted status like I mentioned through the court in April of 2014.  He received a 10 year green card since we had been married for more than 2 years when that happened. Sent all the tax records and documents.  He speaks and reads good English and is studying hard for the civics test and going over his application.

Thanks, yes I review it all with her. She is proficient in English, but not sophisticated in uploading documents, etc. Your advice is well taken to not only study the civics, but understand all the items on the form. I will not put myself on the form as preparer since she is responsible for the answers. Thanks!
