Frankfurt Embassy Case Changed Interview Location to Kyiv, Ukraine

Hello! My spouse is Ukrainian and our case is currently with the NVC. I just received the following email:

"The National Visa Center (NVC) changed the eventual immigrant visa interview location for [my spouse] from FRANKFURT, GER to KYIV, UKR. Please refer to your new case number below."

Has anyone else received a similar email? I can't find anything else online stating that the Kyiv embassy is back doing visa interviews.

Hey did you ever find out what that was about? My wife and I got our approval today and it's strange. The first email is the normal interview letter that says ours is in Amsterdam but for some reason we received another one an hour and a half later that looks like an error as seen below. Do you know if there's anyone we can contact to confirm this? I would hate to have her show up at one embassy when it should've been another one. Although I'm not exactly sure why they would even change the location to anything but Amsterdam. Thanks for any help.

There's an on-going Reddit post about this as well, seems a bunch of people are getting their interview location switched, myself included:

Original poster of this thread had their location randomly changed from Bratislava to Frankfurt - and was told 'US Visa operations are being closed and case location automatically switched'.

@LangelBeanI also received the same mail as well for my wife who lives in AMSTERDAM with me currently, our interview location set as Amsterdam and randomly my case was switched to Frankfurt with no warning. I have just now sent NVC a public inquiry asking if this was a system error, or if US Embassy Amsterdam really are suspending Visa Operations. Either way, my newly assigned Frankfurt Case ID doesn't even work to log in.

@sweetspirit69 Perhaps yours is a bit different than this - maybe in your case, KYIV is re-opening operations again, and the NVC thinks because your spouse is Ukranian (Foreign State of Chargability) that they should 'automatically reassign them there'. As you can see from my examples, people are having their cases actually assigned TO Frankfurt Germany. Perhaps, if you can send NVC a public inquiry with an attachment proving that your spouse lives legally in Germany now (do they have a German Resident permit?? 'aufenthaltstitel' in German)? If your spouse has a German resident permit now, you can probably get the interview location switched back to Frankfurt. Worth a shot.

@imbrad91They just responded to our inquiry stating the below, I'm shocked. I inquired again to find out if that means our original interview date is now gone or just relocated but at the same date/time. I would absolutely be devastated to have to wait even longer to get a second interview letter.

Due to the discontinuance of immigrant visa operations at the U.S. Consulate General in Amsterdam, Netherlands, the U.S. Department of State has designated your interview location to the U.S. Consulate in Frankfurt, Germany.
