I would like to download some Arabic music so that I can burn some CD's for my husband to listen to when he comes here. Only problem is, I have NO idea who is popular in the ME, or names of artist to even look for. Can any one give me any hints or help me with names of artist, or groups that I should look for?

My life has been blessed with the love of 4 of the sweetest men in the world. James, Jonathan, Nicolas, and Islam, my sons and my S/O.

OPSSSSSSS I DID IT AGAIN!

I'll ask my hubby when I talk to him again this weekend. Problem is though, he listens to alot of American music. I'm almost embarassed to tell this...but he likes...Barry White. AGH! There...I said it!!

One time, when he was trying to be romantic, he lit a whole bunch of candles and started playing some music. When Barry White came on, I started laughing and couldn't stop. Don't get me wrong, I think Barry White was a great artist. It's just that his music DOES NOT put me in the mood!

Anyhoo, maybe I'll talk to my BIL, he's a little younger and is really into the music scene. :)

Hello Tammy. you might want to look up arab music on Youtube.com www.Videoarab or 3arabiavideo.com or listenarabic.com. But some popular choices are: Diana Haddad, Cheb Khaled, Cheb Mami, Amr Diab, Elissa, Tamer Hosni, Samira Said, Ahmed Soultan, Sabah, Warda Al-Jazairia, Magida El Roumi, Latifa, Angham, Asalah Nasri, Thekra, Amr Diab, Najwa Karam, Nawal Al Zoghbi, Ehab Tawfik, Hisham Abbas, Wael Kfoury, Amal Hijazi, Elissa, Nancy Ajram, Haifa Wehbe and Natacha Atlas.

But would also depend on your SOs personal taste, as arab music in itself has so many variations: Algerian raï, the Moroccan Gnawa, the Gulfian sawt, the Egyptian el gil, Turkish Arabesque-pop music and many many more to list here.

As mentioned above, Algerian Rai is always a good listen :). Borrowing from my husband's playlist, I enjoy Cheb Nasro and there is a duet between Cheba Maria and Hamid Bouchnak that's good for wiggling while you work :)

Tammy, the most beloved singer among Jordanians is Omar Abdallat. Download all his songs and make him cd's from that. He will probebly like Diana Karazon too and Bashar Sahran. Those are the most popular in Jordan.

VJ Hours - I am available M-F from 10am - 5pm PST. I will occasionaly put in some OT for a fairly good poo slinging thread or a donut.

I bumped up the old song of the day thread, you can get some songs there. You can also sign up for a free account at www.live365.com, they have some arabic radio stations you can listen to. The nice thing about them is they put the name of the artist/song title for each song so you can download accordingly.

Cheb Nasros alright, buuuut many of his songs ripped from Hasni. I do love Cheb Maria... have you hear the song Mon bledi with Mohamed Lamine? I also love Cheb Bilal... but still my all time favs are still Mami and Khaled. And Faudel does have very good messages in his songs too!

Does anyone here like Vitaa, Diams or Senik here?
