Oath Ceremony yesterday went well. It was scheduled for 9am but didn’t begin until an hour later. A further one out later, we were all done. It was just 16 of us. Glad to see the back of this journey. Thanks all for your constant updates. It helped keep one sane.

Congratulations!What document did you bring for Oath ceremony? Should we bring expired work authorization as well ?  It mentioned in the list of documents but I can’t find it

Hi! What document did you bring for Oath ceremony? Should we bring expired work authorization as well ?  It mentioned in the list of documents but I can’t find it .

Also, can I apply for a passport the same day as my Oath ceremony ? I just need  ( from a Ceremony ) a naturalization certificate to apply for the passport , correct ?

He might just be one of those people that really stays on top of things. 

I just talked to an agent this morning, and they said there is nothing they can do. The officer has 90 days to approve it; if it's past 90 days, we can contact them, and they will open an inquiry. She said she can see our files, and everything looks good, but we have to wait for the officer to approve it

I entered on a CR1 Visa so I only ever had green cards. I brought my current one (had expired the day before my oath!). I honestly don't know what I did with my first 2-year green card, I think I destroyed it after receiving the 10-year one. Nobody asked for it. I would bring any valid and expired documents you still have.

And yes you can apply for your passport same day if you have everything (photos, payment, naturalization certificate). You'll need to make an appointment at an place that takes the applications (usually post office), unless you have international travel scheduled for the next 2 weeks. Then you can make an appointment at a passport office.

CR1 Visa

Quick update:

 

Had interview today.  Was recommended for approval.  I asked about the oath ceremony being held tomorrow - and the officer looked confused and said 'I don't think we can get the certificate printed that quickly'.

 

I was hoping it might be possible as the next ceremonies I have been able to dig out (research) are on June 18th when I will be out of state - and July 18th, when I will also be out of state.  Officer said I will have to write and ask to be rescheduled if I am given either of those dates - but also that he would upload the info I have him about when I will not be available.  I imagine I will have to expedite passport when I finally have my certificate. (planning to go home to Ireland this fall).

 

My questions were:

 

Who makes Federal Laws?

What does the judicial branch do?

What is one right of US Citizens?

When was the constitution written?

Who is the 'Father of our Country"?

What major event happened on September 11, 2001, in the United States?

And now it is showing "Oath Ceremony will be scheduled"

 

(Appt time was 1.35, I went in right on time - was out by 2pm).

 

I took a folder full of documents including the originals of all the documents I had uploaded and was not asked to show any of them.  I did not have a State ID and that was also okay.  (I did give the officer copies of my travel information for the dates I will be out of state but was not asked for anything other than my passport and green card)

I didn’t bring my expired EAD and wasn’t asked for it - only GC

Your invitation, the attached form that you complete on oath day, all valid and expired cards : Green card, work authorization, Etc.

Yes. Bring all expired cards as well and yes you can apply for your passport same day after you receive and sign your Naturalization certificate.
