Congratulations!

I have always been curious: so they can select the civic questions to be asked? I had assumed they had a program that selected them randomly.

A program does select the questions randomly, and the IO can pick if they want to skip a question and the system will just provide another.

Thank you!!! I think it depends on the field office. I've read some people saying they were computer generated with no option to choose. My IO was definitely choosing which questions to ask, and let me know at least one of the questions she was skipping. Not sure if she had a pool of questions to choose from that were computer-generated for the day, or the option to choose any of the available civics questions. Study them all!

I believe the system is the same standard for everyone and not dependent on field office.

C'mon, we all know USCIS' computer system is not sophisticated enough to do that. 🤣

Fair! I hear you.

There is something about allowing interviewers to select the specific question that makes me a little uncomfortable for applicants.

They just get to skip questions that they believe would be on the harder end. Unless the officer is telling you that they’re skipping, you would have no way of knowing they did that.

I noticed as a whole that most people get the easiest questions on there and additionally a lot of people are being asked similar questions, which makes me think that the officers are skipping harder questions on purpose.

Ah. Makes sense. Thanks for clarifying.

Still don't like the idea of the IO having the ability to skip. Why allow it? I like the idea of 10 random questions... but read them as presented.

Got ya. Yes, if the IOs are doing that, cool.

But the suspicious part of me wonders if an IO could also skip what they considered to be easy questions...

yeah they could do that, but there’s no question on there that’s truly hard if you know what I mean. Of course “who is the president” is easier than “who is your representative”

I heard they also have to type your answer in the system which is weird to me because I’d think there was some sort of multiple choice for the IO to just select the answer you gave

Hey guys,

I am new here but not new to the immigration process. Believe it or not I have read all 40 pages of this topic 🫢

I got my conditional green card through marriage in 2019 (with an interview), applied for removal of conditions (I751) in April 2021. and got approval in January of this year (without an interview) and applied for my N400 (5 year rule) on 2/28. I received my interview notice which will be on 6/25.
So I am curious to know how much are they going to focus on the I751? I had a strong case hence no interview approval but I’m curious to know how does it usually go.
Tanks for any insightful information.

Btw I came across this on Reddit - somebody got sworn in before 5 years' mark. Sounds like a huge headache for that person:

This is terrible. I feel sorry for them. At the same time I would have put my foot down and said I am not getting naturalized before my PR anniversary especially because the person said they knew at the time they were not eligible.

Quick question. I already got my certificate of naturalization. Should I trash all the receipt notices got from USCIS regarding VAWA?

Keep everything. I always did.
