To everybody who didn't have any update, I noticed something, I don't know if it can help. I was waiting for about 3 months, then I have uploaded the 2023 tax return on the USCIS website and, magically, after 2 weeks, I got the interview notice.

I filed my 2023 taxes after I filed my n400 but I am using a lawyer and I did ask about that but they seemed to suggest what had been submitted was plenty.

When asking why some applications have jumped ahead of me, my lawyer just said it could be a myriad of factors and that things generally in Philly (my local office) are moving along at a reasonable pace and just be patient

Tax transcripts from the IRS are proof of that, and mentioned in the original list.

Oh really? Then, maybe you know better than immigration officers who ask about proof of payments after checking the actual paper tax transcript.

First of all, no need to be rude. Second of all, when did this happen?

This is extremely rare. Most people get a tax return rather than taxes owed anyway. How would you need to show proof of payments when you had no payments to make?

Hey guys, i was checking my wife's uscis account to see the approximate time left for a decision on her case, and i saw that 1 picture was uploaded in the supporting documents or evidence section back in Feb. 8

We didn't do this, we actually sent it along with her N-400 package as a proof of relationship with other documents.

Is this normal?

Thank you

Yes it's normal. All sorts of funky business happens to evidence when filing N-400 electronically. Not an issue.

I’m not rude . I said if it’s not W-2 work, then the applicant needs a proofs that he paid his self employed taxes. I already heard about two  cases where people were asked to show the tax scrips and payments proof . One of them had 4-5 months delay in her case after the interview, because she didn’t bring it to the interview. She has a company who provide services applying for a different types of visa, green card lottery, etc , and even she didn’t know that. So I really suggest all people who are self employed  / business owners considering bring this documentation just in case .

You said: "Oh really? Then, maybe you know better than immigration officers" which is quite rude, but I digress I suppose.

Got it, I missed this part originally. Thanks for clarifying. I didn't see that in the original post.

Still waiting to get a notification for an interview. Applied 2/29. I don’t particularly care that it takes longer, but I was hoping I’d get it already, considering some people in NYC had gotten their appointments already and applied not that much earlier. Plus with summer trips planned I didn’t want the interview/oath to be too close to the trip and the fact that I’d need to get a passport.

I wasn't asked to upload any taxes on my N-400 application. It just ask for my greencard front and back. And some selective service that isn't applicable to person above 31.

It's not a requirement to upload/send with the application, but you definitely want to be sure you have proof you filed/paid your taxes every year at the interview. Just a couple weeks ago a member I follow couldn't get approved at interview because she was missing documentation showing she filed for one year. So I would obtain tax transcripts from the IRS (you can get the last 3 years online, if you're filing under the 5-year rule you can request the older ones by mail using form 4506-t you download on the IRS website). If for some reason there's a transcript you can't get, bring a copy of your tax return and W2 for that year.

I don't owed any taxes. Is there document on the IRS site that specifically say it?

Even if you don't owe taxes, usually you have to file taxes every year. You can get the tax transcript which is proof you filed at https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

I signed up for the IRS account and was able to see my transcripts for 3 years, and I see other forms since I started filing when I was required. Some years I did not work. I am uploading the 3 year that is available.

Speaking of tax returns, my husband and I filed for an extension this year (before the deadline) and paid the estimated amount we owe. Do you think that's ok or do we need to file our full 2023 returns before my citizenship interview (which will happen before the extension deadline)?
