I haven't moved city since moving to the US so I hope they don't have to ship my files around to much 😅

On the one hand I'm anxious to get my interview. On the other hand my partner has German citizenship and he can't swear in until June 17th. So I hope we get a sweet spot where our interview date isn't too early or too late 🫠

27th. It was made public on March 26th so 3 months from there.

Why do you have to wait till June 17

Germany just this year passed a law that allows dual citizenship ( before that you had to ask for an exemption). The law was made public on March 26th with a clause that it won't go into effect until 3 months later.

Oh interesting. My sister has had dual citizenship since she was a child with Germany and Sri  Lanka. It’s possible German govt didn’t know about her dual citizenship 😂

There were a couple changes made over the years and every rule has its exemptions I guess 😅

I'm too sleep deprived. June 27th indeed.

Also excited to see interview appointments trickling in.

Dual citizenship by birth is okay by the way. Germany currently do not allow you to swear the oath of allegiance to another country :D .

But you had to decide by your 21st birthday which citizenship you want to keep and give up the other one. A whole big mess. Glad they're finally doing away with it.

This is good to know, my sister had no idea. She’s 18 now, but by the time she is 21, the law will no longer be in practice

INTERVIEW SCHEDULED!!! 🥳

For May 14th... at 7:35am. I'm not a morning person so I'll have to drink lots of coffee to be able to answer the civics questions 😳

I did receive an email from the USCIS titled "We have taken an action in your case". I thought there were no more email notifications so I don't know if that's a new thing.

I'm really excited because I had a terrible week last week (unrelated to the process), and I was prepared to wait several more months based on the recent timelines of other members in San Francisco. Woohoo!

Congrats!!!
