Question for those who have either got the oath ceremony notice or have naturalized.

I asked a few people if I can bring 3 guests ( wife + two in-laws) to ceremony. My lawyer said it should say what is/is not allowed on notice. Did anyone have that info on their notice? If so, where?

I have tried contacting my specific field office in Philly and also the USCIS customer service but to no avail

Expand

I had the same question before my naturalization ceremony. My notice did not mention anything about bringing guests. But I googled "naturalization ceremonies wisconsin" (my state), and the court website stated this: "Limited seating is available for family members and visitors on a first come/first serve basis".

So, I brought 5 guests. We got there early. All 5 were able to sit in the courtroom. The seating was limited though, so who ever got there a little late, they were sent to "the overflow room": they were able to watch the ceremony live on a screen.

I'm sure it's very different for every location. Maybe state your field office, so that others from the same FO can chime in.

ROC:
6/10/2020 - I-751 filed. Biometrics were waived.
3/19/2021 - RFE
5/20/2021 - sent a reply for the RFE
6/29/2021 - case transferred to National Benefits Center
8/30/2022 - case status updated to "Ready to be scheduled for an interview".
12/07/2021 - divorce granted (we had been having issues and the marriage didn't survive). I asked to switch my petition to Divorce Waiver and sent the request off along with my reply to the RFE.
05/31/2023 - case was updated at some point to show that my biometrics were taken (they re-used the ones I provided at AOS) and on this date, status update to "Ready to be scheduled for an interview" again.
No more updates were made; I assume this case was approved as I received my citizenship.

Citizenship:
2/5/2024 - filed N400 online under the 5-year rule (with pending I-751).
2/9/2024 - Interview scheduled for the end of March! The fastest I ever got anything updated! Not sure if it's a combo interview or not. Following advice here, I uploaded a simple Word doc asking to waive the ROC interview or do a combo.
3/27/2024 - Interview. It was a combo interview of both ROC and 400-N. I passed the test, but a decision could not be made as the officer had to review my 2-inch-thick ROC case file.
4/8/2024 - online status got updated that an Oath Ceremony was scheduled and that they mailed me the notice! I got it in the mail 8 days later.
5/9/2024 - Oath Ceremony. I am a U.S. citizen!!!

Got hubby's interview scheduled for 9/11!

It's not a combo interview, but we did get that courtesy letter from uscis asking for us to submit evidence of continued marriage for our I-751. We will be submitting that evidence this weekend. Hopefully that will maybe waive the I-751 interview.

Congrats.

I'd still treat it as a combo interview up until.

It says that my naturalization certificate was mailed back to me on July 26. Usually first class mail takes anywhere from 1 to 5 days to arrive, but it still hasn’t gotten back to me, and I have informed delivery and it doesn’t look like it’s arriving anytime soon.

Can anyone chime in on how long it took them to get their documents back?

After 72 days from the interview, we got our I-751 approved, and now the N-400 status has changed to 'Oath Will Be Scheduled.' I'm not sure how long it will remain in this status. Since the I-751 is approved, will we be receiving a new Green Card, or is it just a formality for the N-400 approval?

You will not get a new green card. When I got the approval letter for i-751 it mentions that given there's an oath ceremony schedued, they will not issue a new card.

Okay, cool. I wasn't sure. Our oath ceremony hasn't been scheduled yet; it has been showing 'Oath Will Be Scheduled' for the past 5 days. Hopefully we will hear something soon.🤞

It’s been two weeks since I got confirmation that my supporting documents from my passport originals were mailed back to me. However, nothing has arrived in the mail and now I wonder if it got lost by USPS

Now I have to figure out how to get an original copy of my name change document because I did not change my name with Social Security yet and they require the original.

Does anyone know what is the process?

Just got back from the interview. Civics test and English test was first. No problem there. But then got a bit of an unexpected grilling over finances and taxes (we had filed MFS for a couple of years, filed jointly this year due to a work situation change). They even called my spouse in after the interview (pro tip - take your spouse if applying for marriage based with you even if it’s not a combo interview). Anyway, bit more of an ordeal than we expected to be honest, especially as RoC was approved recently with no interview.

In the end officer seemed satisfied and said he would try and schedule the oath for tomorrow (had to get supervisor clearance), otherwise will just have to wait for tracker to update. Did get the picture taken for the oath after the interview.

Filed office was quiet and no line for security (afternoon interview). Bit disappointed with the uncertainty, but what can you do. Just glad it’s over.

Did they ask you for tax transcripts in the interview or they already had that info?

They had 20 -22. I brought 23 as it wasn’t available when we filed.
