Sorry I haven't updated the tracker, our senior pet is in the vet ICU and it's been a rough few days. I'll do my best to update it in the next couple days.

I am officially a US Citizen now.  Had my oath ceremony in the morning today at San Jose, CA .  Got the naturalization certificate with the name updated.

 

Received my passport as well in the afternoon from San Francisco Passport Agency ( no questions asked ).

Its always on Friday in the parking lot. Its every other friday.  Take today's date and keep adding 14 days for oath ceremony dates . If there is a long weekend ( skip that week. Atleast thats what I figured out from reddit.

Hi, I'm coming back from San Antonio.

 

The ceremony was very informal, short and bland.

 

40 minutes sitting down and nothing happened.

 

Children were crying.

 

Then, somebody came, they explained us, very slooooowly, how to register to vote, with stupid information like: "Loooook heeeeere, it says county, not country, did you understaaaand?"

 

Then they read the oath, we said "I do", they gave us the certificate and we were free to go.

 

Waiting time: 40 minutes.

Ceremony time: 30 seconds.

 

No messages from Biden, no band, no tequila, nothing.

 

But I'm a citizen now 🙂

Personal update: received my passport card a few days ago, and my status updated to supporting documents were sent back. Hoping to get my naturalization certificate back in one piece soon...

In other news our elderly cat passed away on Monday and we're heartbroken. He was 17 and I've had him since before even meeting Colin. He lived on 3 continents and was with us every step of this immigration journey - it was easier for him to move to the US than for me!

Wow I was going to say it sounds a lot like mine but at least I got the Biden video! Now that I think about it, they gave us our certificate BEFORE we took the oath.
