I'm getting a lot of pressure from companies to help with the next step but their fees seem crazy high.

Anyways, curious if I understand the next steps correctly?

Apply for apply for permanent residency and file Form I-485. Also apply for I-140?

My fiancé is also wanting to work, so we fill out Form I-765 as well?

Please let me know if this is correct. And looks like approval of the I-485 might be another 14-17 months!

The next important step is marry within 90days upon arrival in the US.

Then with marriage certificate apply to adjust status using I-485.

Also recommended to file I-765, and I-131.

Read the VJ guides:

After marriage, Adjustment of Status is next:

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

*** Topic moved from K1 forum to AOS K1 as the question is about the immigration process after ***

Follow the guides provided and study the official USCIS website for the forms too. I strongly suggest marrying and filing ASAP considering USCIS will hike the fees on April 1, 2024.

I also recommend requested a Social Security Number after arriving to the U.S but prior to getting married and applying for AOS.

This will help the beneficiary to open a bank account, open and/or join credit card accounts, obtain drivers license, etc.

There is a full guide on this website.

-travel to the US

-get married within 90 days

-file I-485, I-131, I-765, and I-864

-ideally do all of this before April 1, as that's when fees increase and AP and EAD will no longer be free to file with AOS

Thank you. It's a never-ending stream of paperwork and fees!
