I just sent my N-400

January 21, 2024. I got NOA & Biometrics reuse January 21, 2024. But it says they will have a decision approx. 4 months.. so I applied for the 3 year role, and still have my I-751 pending for a year now. I don't know how this will play out? will I have a combo interview? or what do you guys think they do with this situations?

It depends on what records are at the local office.  You might have a combo interview, they might approve the I-751 without an interview, or they might just do an N-400 interview.  We have seen several different scenarios.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Anything can happen:

- GC will get approved without interview, followed by N-400

- I-751 interview will get scheduled first, followed by N-400 on different day

- N-400 only will get scheduled and decision won't be made because of pending I-751

- You'll get a combo interview

- You'll get RFE for I-751, then approval, then N-400

We cannot guess for sure. There's many variables.

I was notified only 2 days prior to wife's N-400 interview that it would be a combo interview.  The local office, in the email, said my presence was required, and it stated this would be a combo.  Fortunately, I had prepared for a combo interview all along anyway.

Sometimes USCIS doesn't notify about combo, but conduct it when you show up. Make sure to have your US citizen spouse with you.

Agree.  and I would bring evidence.  Our officer wanted to see evidence of marriage from date of I-751 submission to date of interview.  Spefically, he was interested in seeing paper trail documentation of us living at the same address, bank accounts, leases.

The only thing we don’t have in our name is the mortgage because my spouse bought the before we got married and it’s only in her name. Is that’s going to be an issue?

No, it shouldn't be.

I just contacted my lawyer and his assistant just answered the phone and I told her the situation that my I-751 is still pending and the N 400 got an interview, then she said that you don’t need to worry about that anymore because if it’s not on the notice, all you have to do is the naturalization interview and if it’s approved you get your citizenship you don’t have to do the interview for the green card. It doesn’t sound right to me.

Classics... You know you spoke to a tier 1 officer, right?

You know they know less than any immigrant does, let alone immigration officer interviewing you?

They don't have access to your immigration file.

You know they make things up all the time just get you off the phone? They probably have a target for how many calls they should answer a day and how much time they should spend per customer. And they try to be most "efficient".

If you don't, now you know.

Post your experience after you go through it. Don't rely on info from those folks on the phone.

Many nice people fell for that trap, unfortunately. I think I heard a story somebody was on tourist visa at the start of covid, called them up, asked what to do. They said it's ok, you can stay... Which resulted in overstay. And 10 year bar on entry. The worst thing, you cannot prove anything after.

You may get a short version of I-751 interview, which is a few quick questions here and there. It may get waived too. But prepare for everything.
