My wife who came here on a K1-Visa, and I are attending our interview soon and would like too know what sort of questions can we expect them to ask us. I'm really nervous and pray that we won't run into any difficulties that may delay her getting her greencard.

Expect questions on how you met, how you got married and how you're living together since getting married. You may also get asked personal details about each other and extended families to show that you have a real relationship.

Our interview was a pleasant conversation. The IO said that she would "love to hear our story", and we told her how we met and how we spent time together before the visa came through. She did go, briefly, over things we were doing since we got married. They know you haven't been together for years, and only expect to see an enormous amount of evidence. A joint bank account, with deposits and withdrawals that show you are both using it, credit cards in both names, both names on insurance policies, wills and healthcare directives are some of  the kind of things they want to see. If you have your evidence in order, you can just relax and tell your story!

How long did your interview last, and how long before you had your results?

Did they ask to see any documents? If so, what did you provide them with. I'm hearing stories from some others that they didn't even ask to see any documents and the interview process lasted about 5 minutes. Of course, we are bringing whatever evidence we have and documents that was in the checklist in our appointment letter. I hope that will be enough.

Interview can last 5 minutes or it can last 5 hours. There's no way of knowing ahead.

You maybe interviewed together or separately.

You can be asked many questions or just a couple.

You may be asked to show IDs, passports, evidence.

Nobody can tell you what exactly is going to happen.

But briefly:

- You'll get invited to come in

- You'll swear to tell the truth

- You'll be invited to sit down

- Officer will be typing / clicking a lot on the computer, and periodically ask questions about personal details, relationship etc.

You may get a decision instantly, on the same day or some other day. You may get RFE for more evidence. There's no way of knowing.

Most importantly, give short and straight answers to any questions. If you can answer "yes" or "no" answer it like that instead of lengthy statements. If you don't remember or don't know the answer, don't guess or invent the answer. If you don't understand the question, ask to rephrase it or say you don't understand. Do not tell stories etc unless asked to. Do not try to predict why question is asked and modify the answer to create some narrative, just answer the question itself. Do not try to control the interview or fill the gaps of silence. There may be a lot of silence between questions asked, that's normal.

Good luck!

The interview was pretty quick, and my husband was approved that day. The IO, whose name was Heather, asked if we had any photos (we had just a few, which is enough). She also asked us what we brought to show her, and we brought out some bank statements and our health insurance policy. She really didn't ask for anything specific. You'll be fine, I'm sure. Good luck!

The other thing the IO will do is review the I485 form with you and allow for any corrections.

Okay so we came back from our interview and it lasted about 15-30 minutes. Our IO mostly spoke and asked my wife questions. I heard her looking on her computer and saying that everything looks good, but she did mention something about my wife's medical records saying it expired or something. She asked if we had anything to show, and we provided her with credit card statements, and photos. We brought more than we had to and she said she didn't need to see anything else. Hoping that it's a good sign that she trusts our marriage is real. But the only thing we're worried about ist he medical records. Towards the end she had my wife sign something on a tablet regarding the I-485, and the interview was over. I asked her when can we expect our results. She said 3-4 weeks/days (not sure which one). And she said that the card would be sent to our mail. I'm both excited and nervous as we don't know if she passed or not. Are there any signs we should be aware of if the IO thinks our case is fake? I was hoping that she could've provided with our results at the end of the interview. In case if for some reasno we're denied, I was hoping she could've tell us what we did wrong or what we're missing. How come some people are approved right away after the interview? I'm guessing if we didn't get an approval right after then there must be red flags in our process. :(

Not many people get approved on a spot. The officer may only had few minutes to look at the file before the interview and requires more time to make a decision. The offier may be new / junior and cannot approve cases herself, needs supervisor to review decisions. Also, she said there's something about the medical exam. She cannot promise approval or denial if medical is not completed. Have you submitted I-693 as part of initial filing? Were all vaccinations completed / signed by civil surgeon?

Don't worry, your case seems to be OK overall. If they didn't like the marriage, they would have separated you and had a tough interview with each one of you.

You probably will receive RFE for medical. Either it expired, or incomplete, or your wife did have some issues with health that need to be addressed for her to be admissible.
