Hello

I am processing to move to US with EB3 visa. My case has been Expedited and send to US embassy at Montreal on January 17,2024. My question is how long will it take for the embassy to book an appointment for me? If anyone share there experience I will really appreciate it. Thank You

Have you had an expedite granted from the consulate? Or just NVC?

NVC says the embassy has accepted the Expedit request so that they forwarded my case on Jan 17,2024 to the embassy

OK, that's good. I know it's about 18 months from DQ to IL for 'normal' EB cases, not sure how much time an expedite will shave off that as I've not seen anybody else with one. There is a long running thread about EB visas via Montreal, might be worth searching that to see if you can find any expedite cases.

Good luck.

Thank you for your reply, I tried but I couldn't find anyone with normal EB3 case late alone Expedited case. I guess i have to just sit and see what will happen.

Do update when you’ve heard from them? It would be really helpful for others in the future to know how long it takes.

Good luck.

Unlikely to be less than 6 weeks before you even hear a single thing from Montreal. Might even be 8.

Montreal is slow and the regular EB visa processing has been taking nearly 2 years for interviews.

Also be aware that Montreal likes to hand out DS-5535's like candy, so you might want to research that a little bit and keep your fingers crossed they don't hand you one.

Not trying to be a debbie downer, just a realist so you aren't disappointed since Montreal is one of the more challenging consulates to deal with.

Basically an extended background check form. Can add a year or more to processing, more commonly given to people who are originally from certain countries (Iran, Pakistan, etc), but can be given to anyone.
