Hi, I already got my EAD, which is great! BUT I did not get any touches on the i485 and i130 cases.

i485 was updated the day after my biometrics (6/14), and i130 was updated in may (5/30). I have a couple of questions so i will put a number before each one to make it easier to answer:

1. I've heard from people that get their AOS interview just a couple of days after the EAD arrives. is that "delay" on the touches for my cases supposed to be normal?

2. I am in Charlotte, NC and the 2 cases are at the National Benefits Center. Are they supposed to be transfered to other office?

3. I talked with a friend that maybe helps me to get a job, but that job is in Texas (I am in NC). How does this generally impact on the resolution time of the case? because if it is going to delay the case even more, I prefer to get that job after i get the GC.

So thats it, thanks a lot for all your help and patience with all this!

Greetings from NC!

/PepeG.

1/ There is no rule as to when you get your interview appointment. It can be even before you get your EAD or months later.

2/Either they transfer you to your local office or they transfer you to CSC.

From what I read Charlotte is a very busy office. They actually started building an extra USCIS satellite office in the Raleigh-Durham area to help out. So I wouldn't be surprised if it took longer for them to process your papers.

Did you give a look at the timelines posted for AOS at the Charlotte office to compare? Also on the USCIS website they say that Charlotte is currently processing I-485 from the middle of January (but they haven't updated the data since the middle of July, so I'm not sure how much that's worth.)

3/Like any change in your paperwork a change of address is likely to delay things a bit. Of how much I don't know. Maybe people who changed address during the process can give you their intake.

Pepe, we're right in the same time frame as you. We're waiting for the Newark NJ office, I think (we started in Boston in April/May but moved in June).

Our case still says it is at the National Benefits Center - but maybe it just sits there until the local office can take it and give you/us an interview date.

4/25 - overnighted packet to Chicago (130, 485, 765, 131)

5/01 - NOA date

5/18 - RFE received for 485

5/19 - biometrics appointment

5/21 - overnighted RFE documentation to Missouri

5/24 - notification that response to RFE received

6/14 - changed address on-line, then called

6/18 - mailed I-865

6/19 - all touched

6/20 - all touched

7/06 - notification AP and EAD approved

7/16 - AP letter and EAD card received

9/23 - AOS Interview letter received for 10/29

I'm not sure how accurate the online status is - for instance with me i have not had any touches on my 1-485 since filing . However, i have had my biometrics, and my EAD and Travel document approved and received and jsut last week received my interview notice for September at my local office. According to the online status my case is still at MSC!! so donbt rely too much on the online status.

I filed almost the same time as you, but I am still waiting for my EAD and AOS.

Case is currently at National Benefit Center; have no idea when it will be transfered.

I local office is in Miami, FL, I guess they are just too busy.

I am AOSing from F-1 (student); maybe it takes longer time because of that.

I called in USCIS and asked the rep, they all said I should wait for another 30 days.

I really need to get my EAD ASAP; have a family to feed.

Anyways, good luck to all and us.

2007 Oct: Received PR green card

2011 Nov: Voluntarily Abandoned PR green card (due to relocation oversea). Received FREE B1/B2 & C1/D Crew US visa

2024 APR: Planned for EB2-C from Taiwan as Professional Pilot
