If I, the USA citizen, get a first name change while waiting for I-129f to be approved for my fiancé, will that affect anything? How do I notify USCIS and do I have to show them my updated documents as well?

I could slow things down a bit as USCIS does a background check on the petitioner.

This may be helpful.

Good Luck!

The petition accuracy is as of the date you signed it.  The US citizen is not under any obligation to update documents during the petition approval process

If I, the USA citizen, gets a legal first name change and gender change while my fiancé is waiting for his I-485 approval, can anything happen? That would mean that the marriage certificate and other information sent in the I-485 would have my old name, and it doesn’t seem that marriage certificates can be updated at least in my state

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

WHILE but AFTER filing? No.

Why not? Because you would be bring your legal name change document to verify the changes to your interview if you even received an interview.

For future processes you'd just provide then same and explain in the additional information section of whatever form.

You can't update MC. There is never a need. You always get proof of name change when you change your name.

Holy Mac..those are BIG paper changes . ..am guessing even bigger personal changes .

Assuming none of this will be a surprise for your partner , no need to delay .

You can submit new documents ( from

Court, new US passport and new DMV ) to USCIS as Supplementary Evidence  via mail or upload to online account . You will definitely need to point out /state clearly you have changed gender as well as name .

You will also send original court docs to your fiancé at time of interview .

Your fingerprints are the same ..so they won’t have issues w conducting FBI rap sheet. ..they get a hit no Matter What Name pops up anyway
