Hi everyone,

We applied family based green card for my parents, and post bio-metrics in Feb 2023, nothing for a long time, and suddenly in Dec 7th 2023 we got a letter titled "I-693 Deficiency Notice", where it stated we will either receive an interview notice or RFE. More than a month past, so far (1/17/24 today) nothing yet. My questions are below:

  1. Why do we got this i-693 deficiency notice at the first place? We mailed the sealed medical examination letter with the application package, and I'm certain about it. Of course we are happy to work with the doctor and re-prepare the letter...
  2. Is it common that no follow up at all for more than a month? I'm getting worried :(

Thank you in advance.

Take this with a grain of salt as it has been a couple of years since I went through the same - when I received my "I-693 Deficiency Notice" in mid-September 2021 there was ZERO comms from USCIS until mid-Feb 2022 (which was for my EAD/SSN, so no relation to the I-485). The next update in relation to the I-485 wasn't actually until early March 2022.

What I'm trying to say is - there is no specific timeline to follow when it comes to receiving the I-693 Deficiency Notice as far as I'm aware. Just wait until they get back in touch with you guys eventually.
