My case is approved today under the documents tab I see the approval notice, PD was March 20th 2023 - and approved March 8th 2024 - Nebraska Service center.

Does anyone know what needs to be done now? Do I have to wait until NVC sends the welcome letter by mail -how long that normally takes? Can I pay fees prior to that and start the forms?

Congratulations

You need to wait. Once you see the approval notice under the documents tab, your case will changed to "approved". After that, it will changed to "sent to the department of state". Once your case is sent to NVC, you will receive an email with the welcome letter and instruction son how to sign in to CEAC  and pay your fees.

Thank you! One says sent to department of state and the other is still at case Approved - the department of state is same as NVC? I though we get the welcome letter in mail, should I expect it in email also like you said above?

NVC is the Department of State. NVC used to send letters in the mail, although they email it most often.

So I did receive the NOA for both parents in mail today, I also received an email from NVC only for my mom yesterday, so not sure what has happened to my dad's case with NVC yet if they have received the file from USCIS. Should I action anything on my mom's application or wait until my dad's NVC welcome email arrives? I want to make sure they get the same appointment for the consulate whenever that happens. Thanks!

You can hold off a bit and see if you get the other welcome letter.

After your case is documentarily qualified at NVC, what's the next step?

yea nothing so far for the other one. I think NVC identifies the best consulate and sends approved document file to the consulate to go inline for an appointment date.

After waiting for almost a year , I got an Rfe for both parents. They want me to submit further evidence because my birth certificate was issued 23 years after birth thus making it insufficient . I am so frustrated.

oh thats annoying sorry to hear, if you submit evidence they prob wont hold for longer, what do they need

They want more documents to establish relationship. My birth cert was registered 23 years after my birth so they want a document older than my birth cert like a baptismal cert , medical or school records

My mom's petition was approved today, I found the approval letter in the documents tab. I'm glad I found this thread because that's how I learned I can check there. Her PD was 03/31/2023 so it took a year. Now waiting for next steps.

  • 2 weeks later...

This is getting confusing:

i received an email notification yesterday:

“we cancelled the request for additional evidence for your Form I130, PETITION FOR ALIEN RELATIVE. We will send you a notice if we need additional evidences. “

It’s weird because they did not send me an RFE in the first place. I looked at the documents tab theres nothing in there. Then it went back to 2 months before decision.

Hi Medeme, when you received your RFE, did they attach the notice in the document tab of your uscis online account? Or you just received it in the mail?
