Can you give more info - are you the petitioner or beneficiary? Is s/he the biological child or step child of the USC/LPR?

Thank you Jeanne

I entered the child's information into the I-130 form of his mother, who is also my wife.

And what about the CBRA/citizenship that @JeanneAdil asked about? If your child isn't a citizen, then they need their own I-130.

There are no derivatives for immediate relatives of US citizens.  Each non-citizen beneficiary needs a separate I-130.

Requirements for CBRA

read thru and if u qualify,  file for the child to be USC

https://in.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/birth/reporting-birth-checklist/#:~:text=To qualify for a CRBA,(s) and the child.

if u do not qualify,  file a I 130 for the child and delay the I 130 by not paying the fees yet for your wife (u can delay only for year at NVC

let the child's I 130 catch up to your wife's

Be on top of the NVC process and don't let it go too long

I'm not qualify for CBRA.

If I delay the I-130 how long my child's I-130 can take to catch up to my wife's

You can ask USCIS to expedite child's case.

Unless USCIS will agree to expedite the child's I-130 process, you can expect it to take as long as your wife's did.  Sometimes they will expedite in cases where the child was born AFTER the mother's I-130 was filed, but it's worth a try.  This situation was under your control, so be prepared for them to not give consideration for you not doing your homework.

As an aside for any reader, it is situations like this that come to MY mind with other members blindly tell people they don't know anything about, that they should do it themselves.  It takes the right aptitude, attitude, and skill set to do this yourself. It's not for everybody.
