Good morning all. I am fairly new to this and got my I-130 submitted on Nov 6. According to the USCIS website it is saying case is under review and estimated approval is 4 months. This is making me cautiously optimistic. Everything else that I read says it is a 10 month wait for approval.

Could it be possible that we will be approved in April? My bride is in Costa Rica if that matters. What is y'all's experience with the accuracy of the USCIS website estimate?

Thank you,

Greg

10 months to a year would be normal, you can find exceptions above or below.

Plenty of posts about the data on the web site, most people end up in your case is taking longer than normal.

It's notoriously inaccurate, just search the forum and you'll find most people end up with 'your case it taking longer than expected' once they get to the overly optimistic date on it! But you never know. Work on 18 months for the whole process as a rough guide and then be pleasantly surprised if it's quicker.

Good luck.

Hopefully you realize that the petition phase is just one step in the overall process?  It will take a year or so at least, to get a visa.
