NVC process for spouse (wife) living abroad (India)

Hello sir,

You have been really helpful and thank you for helping all of us!

I have 2 questions:

1. In the process for NVC I am at the stage of uploading documents (fees paid). I literally have everything ready for what is required except for Police Certificate. For India, we need PCC (Police Clearance Certificate) and the process to obtain that is time consuming. I got the date for Police certificate in India as 17th January and then later on it will take 10-20 approximately days to arrive at home. Give or take, it'll be a month from now until my wife will get the actual Police Certificate in her hand. Question is, can we upload the confirmation latter issued by Indian authorities indicating the interview date for Police Certification  (17th Jan) and give the actual PC later on? Or anything else you could think of?

2. In the form I-864, I am confused whether my parents need to be included in total household number or not. My parents file their taxes separate from me. So they file married joint but both of them live together with me under same physical address. I am not dependent of them and they're not dependent on me either. What needs to be done in this case?

Appreciate your answer and your help.

Thank you!

Thank you!

They will not accept an appointment letter for a PC.  They need the real thing

1. They will want to see the actual police report. They will reject it with a note stating that and you’re back to square 1.

2. If you don’t have them as dependents on your taxes then they’re not part of your household count.
