Hey, all. I'm hoping you can share some words of wisdom for Réjean regarding his interview at the Montréal Consulate. He's really nervous and worried right now, and I can't really calm his fears because I don't know for sure how it goes, either. :(

If he has al the paperwork in order, he has fought the hardest battle!! The interview itself is very quick! In and out in less than 10 minutes for myself. Very basic questions, such as: how we met, where my wife works, what do I to do in the USA, Just very basic questions. Most of the time spent int he interview was spent by her (consulate lady) looking through my paperwork. Was quick and painless!! And tel him not to worry if he doesn't get called to the interview in order!! I was 1 of the first people there, but others did get called before me! I'm sure it wil go well!! Just remember no big bags or electronics of ANY kind, including car alarms!! There is a washroom on the same level where he will be waiting! and the machine that calls out the #'s makes a beep every time a new # is called, and it states which window to goto!! and head to the BACK of the elevator, as that is where it will open! lol Best of luck!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Flames is correct... if he has all his paperwork in order there really not much more he can do and being nervous would just make things harder on him. I will be headed to Montreal soon and for me personally I just cant wait to get this part over, the faster Im done at the interview the sooner my daughter and I will be able to be with my wife.

I know it is probably hard to calm him, but there is nothing to be nervous about. If you have nothing to hide and you did the paper work correctly, than you will sail with ease. I know it is a big day for you both but just see it as a positive thing. You will be together soon and look forward to this being just another thing to get past to be together.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

thanx for the encouragements!!!

thinking of my precious honeycake helps me a lot, plus what helps me it's at work... i have a co-worker who got into the immigration ( from France to Canada ), she gives me a lot of support since the beginning, my boss and other co-workers encourages me a lot too... plus these days i'm pretty busy at work... on my work table, i displayed 2 pictures of me and Pamela and a US dollar bill and at the edge of my table there's an american flag ( since july 4th ) :P... at home it's another story...

What everyone else said :)

Double-check all the paperwork and get there early. Réjean will be fine! I had a somewhat unusual interview last year in Montréal in that I was asked at least 20 questions (whereas everyone else had only... 2? 3??). I just answered everything honestly and had all my paperwork in order... and was approved :)

My then fiancé went through MTL for his interview...he was pretty nervous too. We had all his paperwork in together weeks before, since I wasn't going to be able to be with him. Anywho, his interview was FIVE minutes...two questions....that's it. He called me later and said "Wow, all that nervousness for nothing!" It's normal to be nervous, but I betcha once it's over you'll wonder why you were so nervous. :) You'll do fine Réjean....no doubt about it! :D

It will be okay!! I was a nervous wreck.. I always am around gov agencies. I just really get tongue tied and forget dates & numbers when I am nervous. I was SO worried they'd ask me when B's birthday was, and I wouldn't be able to remember!! Honestly, it's that bad.

I did tell the interviewer right up front. Look I'm nervous.. this has been a very difficult thing for me to do. He understood.

In the end I gave a TOTALLY different job title for my husband than what he does etc., but it didn't matter. We got the young guy who's very very nice and our "interview" lasted less than 5 min. We left feeling SOOO relieved and just as was posted above - foolish that we were so nervous! :)

Being nervous is all part of going through this process. In the end he'll find as was already previously stated, the interview is the easiest step of all

Good luck, no need to worry worry Rejean you'll do just fine.

I was thinking of you guys this weekend! That day is fast approaching! You guys have been through so much to get here. That you've journeyed this far given some of the hurdles speaks volumes! I'm confident that everything will come together for you guys if all your paperwork is in order. That seems to be the number one deciding factor for Canadians. I don't think I've read on here anything about bona fide relationship issues, so as long as paperwork is up to snuff he should be fine.

Best wishes on the interview, and make SURE you let us know right away how it went!

Just make sure he has all his paperwork in order. Go through the checklist with him over the phone to make sure he's got everything. Have him read a few recent reviews as well to calm his fears. :)
