Looking for some advice on O1B visa preparation. Is the lawyer being honest?

Got in touch with a lawyer (found on AILA website) last month.
I'm a composer looking to get an O1B visa.

My career:
Had albums released by indie labels from 3 different countries (USA, UK, Germany).
Had my albums reviewed in 30+ online publications from different countries.
Some of my songs got airplay on radio stations in the US, Canada, Australia, UK, and Germany.

Now, after reading the requirements for the O1B visa I concluded I had no chance because:
1- The indie labels that released my albums are small. They're not Sony, Universal etc level...
2- Most of those online publications are small as well. Most of them are very niche (ambient music). They're not Rolling Stone, NME, Pitchfork level...
3- I have one letter of intention from the US label owner stating that he wants to work on more albums with me, but, again, it's a small label.

However, the lawyer said my chances are above 80% and now I'm scared. The whole amount necessary will probably get to $10,000usd. It's a lot of money for me since usd is about 5x my country's currency. So This will probably be my one and only chance.

Could the lawyer be acting in a dishonest way telling me I have a chance that I actually don't have?

Thank you

I have been surprised by the relatively low requirements for O1 and EB2 NIW so not necessarily.

I do know someone who obtained an O in the music industry but he is a name in his field.

Some Lawyers offer a money back guarantee. Not sure this is a case where they would do so.

I see. Makes me wonder if I should go ahead anyway or not.
Thank you very much for your reply.

If you have doubts, then find another lawyer that does offer a money back guarantee. Plenty of them out there for O visas.

Personally, from what you've said, I'd say you're eligible (and I had an O visa).

Best of luck.

I didn't know there were lawyers that offered a money back guarantee.
Thanks a lot!
