I got a response from my email to the consular today finally:

Dear Madam,

Thank you for your email message.

The case is pending necessary administrative processing. Unfortunately,

we are unable to reveal what the administrative processing is. The time

frame required to review individual cases is difficult to predict.

Regards,

Consular Staff

Wow! They're still sending out the same letter? (word for word actually) I think they're secretive because they don't know what the heck they are doing! :P Hope it's a speedy AP for you!

LOL! Yep, I got the same letter word for word many times. If you call DOS all you need is your case #. Depending who you speak with they may ask you a few questions about your husband (DOB, date of interview, etc) to make sure you are who you say you are. Remember though, I think the people at DOS don't have a brain sometimes too. I never did get much from them.

When you call DOS you will need case # and your husband's full name as it is on the petition. Once or twice they asked for my name too. Good luck with getting any helpful info from them. I didn't have much luck!!

I suspect because if they made their proceedures public, those with fraudulent goals would have it made.

but i love the way they tell you they can't tell you

DOS was very helpful to me. I knew his checks were completed right away. Guess I was luck when I called. I called him to tell him they were done and that he was approved. I think it was a day later that he got the call from Casa. All I needed was his name, case number and his date of birth. Good luck Doodle!

They are not being secrective. It does vary case by case. And as discussed so many times here on this board Cairo seems to make couples wait and wait and wait some more... trying to see if they will give up. Bonne chance!

Yeah I'll just suck it up. I just helps to know exactly what the process is though, but I guess it's not for public knowledge. Makes sense when i think of it from an audit perspective so that people can't try to bypass the system if they don't know what the system is in the first place.

Even thou you are dealing with a US embassy, the fact still remains it is located in a country where very few laws are set to order. And they realise that and make changes-innovations if you will to the system just keep the people guessing, hoping many will fall off the wagon on the way. Too tired of waiting and give up. It is important not to give up, as I can attest how coming to the US (on a non-marriage visa) going through the Immigration system for 5 plus years got me my citizenship and now I am petitioning for my husband. It is possible. It just takes time. and alot of patience. Believe me! It is well worth it!

And as we all have seen Cairo and Casa seem to have make this process much much difficult then it has to be. =^(

Here's a new twist I've never heard of before. I called the DOS (my first time woot woot) and she said that security checks are done by outside agencies and that right now they're still being done.

What outside agencies? She couldn't tell me. lol. She did tell me that it's done by DOS but apparently they're now farming this stuff out?? lol

"Outside agencies" have always been used for security clearances. This is just normal stuff.

Get used to it, Doodle. You'll get that one or another one with similar wording throughout AP. I don't think actual ppl respond. I'm pretty certain it's just an auto generated response.

No clue for certain, but I know the the Secret Service farm out their interviews and checks to retired agents who formed their own businesses afterward. But 'outside agency' could just mean the FBI or anyone not under the DOS umbrella.
