THere are lots of alternatives to calling cards...I prefer Skype....you can add credit and call any landline, or cell phone in the world at VERY reasonable rates. Skype also has cordless phones u can use with their service. www.skype.com Also tele3advantage is ok..but i find i have bad connections more than I'd like. Our home phone is VONAGE and i love it. Same rates as with Skype and unlimited long distance to USA and Canada. AND....its half the price of my local phone company AND its clear and good service. Hope this helps. I hate phone cards and all the numbers to dial and the surcharges. WE find with these alternatives we keep our long distance bills to a very low cost and have loads of talk time. (.17 cents from usa to Egypt) (cheaper from skype for Egypt to call USA)

Alternatives to calling cards can be cheaper if you don't mind setting things up. VOIP is a good alternative, of which Vonage is one such provider but not the cheapest. I use BroadVoice but there are plenty of others, but if you want a solution out of the box then Vonage or BroadVocie are good starting points.

Try ppoutlet.com This company saved me tons of money thorugh their various calling cards. However I preferred their prepaid service because the rates were low and it also keeps calling logs which really help the evidence portion of the visa process. If you have questions feel free to pm me.

Instead of using a calling card, why dont you use skype or yahoo messenger through the internet where calls are free. My husband is in Germany and we both dont pay for our phone calls since its through the internet. We both can see each other and speak and hear each other through the internet. Thank GOD for the internet cause God knows how much our bill would be. I know I would be charged 40cents per minute through Sprint, but its free through Yahoo :) Thank God for yahoo and Skype. Buy a web cam and earpiece and use the internet. You just have to download the Yahoo messenger or Skype and enter your profile. Your significant other would have to do the same thing and then you both invite each other and you will be able to speak to each other. I do every day with my husband. That is what keeps our relationship alive and free

If she's just calling China, then I recommend Dynasky.com You can set up pinless dialing from three separate phone numbers. My wife and daughter just have their friends set up to select from their cell phone books. We program one pause in the dialing string. From home, depending on the phone capabilities you could do the same. We pay 2 cents a minute.
