My impression is the OP has seen political threads that support a political view that he doesn't like so he wants to silence those views. I've had people actually post in political threads that I started, telling me to keep my liberal politics to myself, meanwhile others post their political views without the blink of an eye. It's the old, 'nobody's allowed to have an opinion but me' syndrome...a terrible affliction called the O'Rielly Factor. We need a telethon to find a cure, fast.

I think this might be the case. Liberals have to realize, that conservatives don't have to listen to anything with a liberal slant. Liberals do on the other hand. For example, the news, newspapers, Fox news, the radio, conservative talk radio. So conservative views are all over, and liberals have to learn to deal with it, or go insane. Conservatives do not have this problem, so you have to understand how it is hard for them, really hard, for anyone to talk even slightly liberal. They have never had to deal with it, and are not quite sure how. So SUPPORT THE TROOPS! that seems like a easy, quick response you can't really argue with, true?

Anyway, keep those liberal views to yourself, us conservative,(hey we are middle of the road, hahaha), cannot handle this. So pleassse!

My answer is No.

There are plenty of political websites out there and if I want to discuss the Presidential Election, the War on Terror, etc. I find those places much better suited to the conversation. For me, it's getting old to see so many posts of political news that have nothing to do with a VisaJourney.

Yes, I know I do not have to read them or participate in them; I am saying that for me I am getting tired of seeing them here on VJ.

What do you suggest we do for your tiredness?

In my case, I will say that you are incorrect. What I said in my post and what I asked in the poll was in regards to this site being related to Immigration and not all the other politics of the World. There are thousands of websites better suited for those conversations and, at least to me, it would be nice to be able to go to a site and not always find the same old political debates.

Having an opinion isn't the problem...it's having an opinion that others can't or shouldn't express their political opinions here, on an immigration forum. Like Number 6 stated, many issues bleed from area to the next and we've had some very heated, political threads just on the subject of immigration. Also, as mentioned before, why be selective and say you don't think politics should be discussed here on immigration forum, but not other non-immigration topics?

In fact, you can almost be guaranteed that if you completely avoid ever going into OT, you'll never get tired of seeing topics you don't like and you won't lose out on anything important with regard to immigration.

I think someone pointed out once before that if people didn't discuss politics in OP, it would be taken over by cat threads...

That said, I don't get why discussing politics in an O/T forum in VJ is 'inappropriate'.

Seems to me that this is a bit like going to a restaurant and complaining that you don't like the menu. Unlike a restaurant however, you're perfectly free to bring 'dishes of your own' to the party.
