@Ana_ could you let know that did you have submit all civil docs to NVC again? How long NVC take to reopen the case? Our petition was documentarily qualified, we were waiting for interview to be scheduled but due to death of petitioner, we had to request for humanitarian reinstatement to USCIS.

I had not submitted anything to NVC. I would assume that once you log into the CEAC portal you can see whether you have to or not? I believe once I got reaffirmation I logged into the system within 2 weeks. I did not get any letter from either agency telling me that the case was up in the system, I just tried to log in and it worked.

Good day Ana, I have a few questions if I may . Did you course your Humanitarian Reinstatement  through a lawyer ?  I have the sent my HR request last Dec 2023, was wondering if I could follow it up personally at USCIS.  Appreciate feedback. Thank You !

I did not use a lawyer (too expensive) and I guess I did not end up needing one. I did call USCIS and asked if they got my letter. They later emailed me with no helpful info "If a Humanitarian Reinstatement is being requested, the request must be made in writing by a surviving beneficiary.  Once the request has been properly submitted and received, USCIS will communicate with the surviving beneficiarys designated substitute sponsor or authorized legal representative to indicate the documentation needed to pursue reinstatement of the visa petition."

Sorry, I can't remember how long it took for them to mail me the notice. However, when I message NVC they were not very helpful, I would just use your previous NVC numbers to log into CEAC

Its been almost 4 months since we received reaffirmation and NVC did nothing. We are not able to log in either using old ceac acc as there is none

Vermont Service Center. It is nice you got an acknowledgement letter! My case took over a year to be approved.

@Ana_ @Sam Shar @Tina A I’m a bit stuck here and not sure what to do. We submitted our request in January on our own because my mom’s (petitioner) lawyer insist there’s no such thing as humanitarian reinstatement. We didn’t receive anything after but recently I noticed my case got updated on the USCIS portal ( a document was sent). We have tried everything to get a copy of this document resent but to no avail. USCIS says my mom( who has passed away) or her lawyers should request because they don’t have me on file as authorized to enquire on the case😓

@Lymen USCIS reinstated our petition as you know so if someone tells you there is no such thing, it's not correct. They took two years for us but they reinstated the petition.  Not sure why your lawyer does not help in this case. You need to push them and clarify why not. They should be able to get response from USCIS
