Query Regarding IR2 Visa Application Interviews Cancelled

Hope everyone is doing well. I have an unusual situation regarding my IR2 visa applications, and I'm curious if anyone has experienced something similar or has insights.

Here's the scenario: I submitted three IR2 applications to the Montreal USA Embassy. On November 21, 2023, I received an email stating that the National Visa Center (NVC) had completed processing and scheduled visa interviews for two out of the three applications. All was seemingly on track.

However, today, I received a new email stating, "Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have to cancel this interview. We will schedule a new interview appointment as soon as possible and notify you of the date and time. There is no need for you to take action at this time."

I'm a bit puzzled, and I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered a similar situation or has any idea about the potential reasons behind such cancellations.

Any insights or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Could be anything, just staffing levels for that particular day, or other expedited cases needing those appointments more.

But I’m a bit confused - you mention submitting IR2 apps to the Montreal embassy? What did you actually submit and where to?

  • 3 months later...

as some of you may know After submitting DS-260 & civil documents, I was DOCUMENTARILY QUALIFIED in August 2023. Received an email in November 2023 for an "Immigrant Visa Interview Appointment" scheduled for 22nd Jan 2024, but it was canceled a week before.

No updates since then. Is this delay normal after interview cancellation? Should I contact NVC or wait? Appreciate any guidance. Thank you.
