Hi , I sent my 129-F and nothing has been given back, not a NOA or anything in more than two months. What should I do to make sure they are working on it?

Also, do they really expect us to stay fiance for God knows how long? We want to get married, and by the time the 129-F is ready, we may have already decided to get married. How would this affect the 129-F status if we did that? Obviously I am not a fan of this process, as many others as well, so some clarity would be greatly appreciated.

“They” don’t “expect” anything.   Why did you choose to pursue a K-1, instead of the CR-1?

We have all had to wait our turns in the queue.   US immigration is a series of long waits for each steps.

If you decide to marry, you’ll abandon the K-1.   You can then start the CR-1 process if you want.

What method of payment did you use?  Was the check cashed/card charged?   Did you correctly send your packet to the lockbox?

If you marry, you no longer qualify for a fiance visa.  You would have to start over from scratch.  This is a long process which could easily take 18 months or longer.  You might want to consider marrying, and starting the spousal visa process now if you are not prepared for the long finance process waiting period.  Besides, many of us believe the CR-1 is superior in many ways:

Every couple has their own priorities, and each couple must decide which visa is better for their situation.

K-1
  More expensive than CR-1
Requires Adjustment of Status after marriage (expensive and requires a lot of paperwork)
Spouse can not leave the US until she/he receives approved Advance Parole (approx 6-8 months)
Spouse can not work until she/he receives EAD (approx 6-8 months)
Some people have had problems with driver licenses, Social Security cards, leases, bank account during this period
Spouse will not receive Green Card for many months after Adjustment of Status is filed.
A K-1 might be a better choice when 18-21 year old children are immigrating also
In some situations, marriage can affect certain Home country benefits, making a K-1 a better choice
A denied K-1 is sent back to USCIS to expire
K-1 entrant cannot file for citizenship until after having Green Card for 3 years.
Once an I-129F has been approved, delaying the case is difficult to impossible if the need arises.

CR-1/IR-1
  Less expensive than K-1
  No Adjustment of Status(I-485, I-131, I-765) required.
Spouse can immediately travel outside the US
Spouse is authorized to work immediately upon arrival.
Spouse receives Social Security Card and Green Card within 2 or 3 weeks after entering the US
Opening a bank account, getting a driver's license, etc. are very easily accomplished with GC, SS card, and passport.
Spouse has legal permanent Resident status IMMEDIATELY upon entry to US.
The clock for citizenship filing starts immediately upon entry to the US.
A CR-1/IR-1 case can be delayed indefinitely at NVC if the need arises.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Then I wouldn’t worry.   You should get the NOA1 receipt shortly.

Sounds like normal USCIS process....slow and agonizing at times.

Well I guess that’s the only assurance I will get at this time. I keep wondering that if I had filed for the electronic notifications then I would have had an update by now. But nothing physical or electronic has been given yet, after applying in mid October. Little bit nerve wracking…

Hello I submitted my I-128F in late October and I am still waiting for any reply via mail or email. Who do I contact for updates? Thanks

Please complete your timelines. Are you referring to noa 1 or 2. If 1, something is amiss. If 2 perhaps it would be adjudicatated shortly. Was your check cashed? Or card charged?
