we were surprised to get passport in 3 weeks. And the Social Security updating took about 45 days.

IS it true that it is better to wait 1 week after oath to get the passport appointment? A friend told me that the information might not be in the system yet if I applied on the same week of my oath ceremony.

How long you waited for the passport appointment?

Thank you!

No, i applied a couple of days after my oath ceremony and received it about a month or 6 weeks later. The naturalization certificate took 2 months to get back

I forgot to ask, did you write a personal check or got a money order to pay for the passport? and did you choose to expedite it?

I set my passport appt on Jan 21 since it is overbooked everywhere.

Thanks!

I traveled out of Houston to Alvin for a post office appointment and paid by personal check including for expediting. Back then regular service was taking months. I don’t know if it’s still taking so long for regular. Worth checking out this forum for up to date details. If you are willing to drive for an appointment, try the likes of Alvin

Edit: I just checked Alvin, they have appointments most days next week starting Jan 10th

Good luck.

I brought everything asked for to support the N400 application. Although I had uploaded this to the online application, I still brought paper copies with me which I found useful to refer to when they asked me questions (specifics on my travels in and out of the US for example for which I had prepared an excel list of all my travel dates and locations)

I also brought anything that had changed since I had applied (e.g. a) I applied in March and had not yet completed the previous year's tax return so I brought a paper copy of that year's tax details b) travel details between application and interview).

They took copies of everything additional that I had brought. Some might say it was overkill but I like details :)

Hey guys I have a quick question - do I have to take my husband’s original birth certificate to the interview?  Im applying for citizenship as a spouse of a US citizen - and all we’ve ever had was a copy of his birth certificate.  Is an original needed for my interview?  Let me know!

If you only have a copy then that is all you can bring. However bring his passport with you also.

If they ask about the birth certificate, then tell them that you only have a copy and offer it up along with the passport. If they don’t ask, then don’t say anything. Pretty much the same with the rest of the interview, don’t offer up anything more than they are asking you.

Our marriage certificate had the wrong spelling of my name. Since it was had written, it was not too clear that it was the wrong spelling. However I was able to get a corrected marriage certificate (from Belize) and brought that with me. However they never asked nor said anything so our new certificate stayed in its fedex envelope
