yes...get your PP sorted

Wednesday 18th. .I have appointment at Downtown office. Then the dust would have finally settled.

I think it'll be handed back Friday since my flight is Sunday 22nd. So, I'd say Friday is the day it finally settles.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

Has anyone, recently naturalized, managed to get a SSA appointment to update their citizenship or did you send in your naturalization cert, passport book / card?

Yes they recently have a new directive where you can schedule an in-person meeting for them to inspect your original documents if you are unwilling to send them by mail. See here https://secure.ssa.gov/apps10/reference.nsf/links/05262021015248PM

Don’t you think you’ll be able to get your passport that same day (8/18)?

Same day are for those traveling that day or next day.

Apparently, from what I gather, PPA keeps it till the day before your departure. That's why I suspect I'll get mine back Friday.

I think you will get you PP on Friday because you still have few days before your flight same thing as mine I applied July 7 wed, and pickup by Friday because the lady said my flight on Saturday and they don’t have office on weekend..  I assume you have all the documents that they need it. Good luck!

Thank you. Did you make an appointment or did you send your application in. If the latter, how long did it take them ?

I made an appointment in-person. I called a SSA office in a rural town because they has much fewer applicant and drove 1hr to get there. I can't trust mailing my precious certificate of naturalization.

 Which rural town was this?

I just called the one on 610 near NRG and they told me flat NO.

I am calling the one you went to in Brenham. Still on hold

Brenham, picked. They were going to make appointment and were nicer. However, I was disqualified as soon as I gave them my zipcode. Apparently, they started weeding people out based on zipcode as of last week because multiple people are calling and going there from other locations yet the same thing can be done at their local office. Seems they were being swamped with workload from other offices. But she was nice in explaining why I was being turned down.

Now I am back to Houston office. I am going to see if I can talk to a supervisor.

Sorry to hear that. I guess I managed to get through before they shut the door. The SSA office can't reopen fast enough.
