Anyone here has an oath scheduled for Thursday? Trying to see if Thursday is one of the 3 days that oaths are scheduled so that I can wiggle my way in after my interview.

Gotcha ...

Thanks. This can do

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

From a quick scan, I see it's strongly Tuesdays and Wednesdays, then a few Fridays. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are definites. So I guess Fridays complete the list.

I'll see of I can squeeze in for any, provided it's before my departure for vacation

Applied today for my passport & card and our kid’s renewal. We managed to find an appointment at a USPS office maybe 50minutes drive outside of Sugarland.  Me being me, I made sure we were 45 minutes early 🙄 yet they were able to see us right away.

Since we had used the online form filler and had everything already copied and ready, we were in and out within 20 minutes. We made sure to thank the officer for seeing us way before our appointment time, she laughed then thanked us for ensuring the forms were correctly filled out and ready to go.

if you’re ever near Alvin, make sure to visit Joe’s BBQ, it’s a 5 minute drive from the USPS.

Out of curiosity, when USCIS Houston Field Office makes schedule for naturalization interview, did they call you? My wife got a phone call from the office today (she missed it but the officer left a voice message, name, and call back number, so she will call back tomorrow) and was told it's something regarding 'schedule for citizenship application'. I wonder anyone else here had same experience.

The USCIS website states that you "may be able to participate in a naturalization ceremony on the same day as your interview". Does the Houston center do this or is it always a later date? If yes, would you be made aware (formally) of the oath ceremony ahead of time?

The reason I ask is that I actually don't want to have the oath ceremony the same day as my interview (July 29th) due to travel in mid-August.

Thanks

Houston office does not offer same day oath. Right now it takes 2-3 weeks to get oath after interview. No name changes.

The only Houston folks I’ve read about having had a same day oath are former or serving military. And that makes me happy.

I don't know your reasons but having it on the same day is the best thing that can happen. You get your certificate there and there and adios to USCIS.

Who's having the interview? You or your wife?

I have an international trip booked for Mid-August so didn't really want to have to hand over my green card and then scramble to fast-track a US passport (if that's even possible these days). My preference is to do the interview and then the oath 3-4 weeks later.

A follow-up question for the group - The interview letter specifically mentions rescheduling if you've been outside the US within 10 days of the interview. Can I assume the same applies for the oath ceremony? Based on a 2-3 week gap between the interview and ceremony I'm pretty confident I'd be back in the country but less likely to have been back at least 10 full days.

Thanks to everyone that responded to my questions.

Nope. Someone in another group that I know came the night before the oath and had no issues.

Man, how come everyone has an international trip? You're like the 5th person that I know, excluding myself, who's going on international trip July/ August yet has an interview too.

I also have an interview 15th July and international trip 27th July. Inwas supposed to depart 21st June but a trip to the mailbox got my interview notice. So I rescheduled trip

We were told that they wanted to discuss the interview schedule with my wife directly, since we are an active duty military family.
