Houston N-400 Filers

I filed N-400 under the 3-year rule on July 13, 2020. Not hearing anything about biometrics I called and got in a service request on Nov 11th, and got a notice on Dec 4th that I was scheduled for a biometrics appt on Dec 31st. Right now my projected completion date is July 2022.

That's great news! I can only hope I get a similar update soon. it is incredibly frustrating at the same time to see that USCIS continues to service its caseload without any reason or rhyme, let alone process. The ASC was able to schedule an applicant from July 13 and not the applicant from April. Despite the fact that I have filed service requests and have been waiting 14 business day for a Tier 2 call that was supposed to happen within 7 business days. Its just a broken, awful system and I can only wonder what it must be like for people who are in desperate need of their Immigration to process (which thankfully isn't an urgent or emergent matter for me personally).

And here I was bitter that someone I know who lives in Boston, who applied around the same time as I did, was able to get their citizenship and vote in the election in November. We also moved from Boston to Houston, and I knew it meant longer wait times for everything and it is very annoying.

I moved my case my NYC to Houston and it seems my estimated completion time jumped from MAY 2021 to JULY 2021. No Bio appt so far and this houston thread seems pretty quiet.

 

Curious what the processing times are like at houston.

 

I applied in March 2020 before the lockdown, and I'm still waiting for a notice about my biometric appointment rescheduling.

Could you tell me how you filed a service request and what you had to mention in it?

 

I filed in early May 2020 and haven't received any biometric notif at all.

 

I also moved to houston after filing and it says JUL 2020 as completion estimate.

Wife filed N-400 in January 2020 in Houston, and her estimated completion time then was Feb 2021. After pandemic, completion jumped to April, which was expected.

 

Today we get an online notice that her interview has been scheduled (Yay!), but completion time is now showing October 2021. 😳

 

Anyone else have a big jump like that?

 

My only guess at this point is that they were previously showing the minimum case processing time (14.5 mos) and are now showing maximum time (20 mos). Will update when we get the appointment date by mail.

To ua747sp - I am sure all cases are different, but my recent experience (December 2020) was that I was advised at the N-400 interview that my case was accepted.  I received invitation for the oath ceremony within days and the oath ceremony was held approximately 3 after the interview.  Good luck!

I called the USCIS number 800-375-5283. I have had to keep saying technical support, technical help etc. to be able to talk to a human. I told them that it has been more than 90 days since my receipt date and I have not heard anything (it had been131 days). She was polite and quick, and told me that she was filing a service request for me. I was notified about biometrics less than 30 days later.

Did you file a change of address with USCIS? The timeline requirements might be different since they will have to move your file to the new field office. Still does not hurt to call and ask.

I filed Online on Jan 27,2020 and still waiting after biometrics on Feb. Mine says estimated completion time is April, 2021. I only summitted copy of green card, divorce decree. I hope that's enough.

Interview is 2/17 after all. Not October. Glad it's sooner rather than later.

Update: So I got a call from USCIS to follow up on my service request for a biometric appointment.  The officer I spoke with was kind and empathetic. My appointment has been scheduled for next month, and my account has been updated to reflect this.  Prior to this recent development, I'd contacted USCIS four times since they resumed services after the COVID-19 restrictions, but they'd been fobbing me off with the usual generic response. I didn't give up, refused to get discouraged, and now my tenacity has paid off. What a relief!

My wife applied in Nov 2020, so far no any news on biometrics appointment scheduling.
