Hello all,

I was K1 but got divorced. I have a GC now. I am from the Middle East.
It is about time to apply for N400.
I am not sure how easy or hard the interview and the officer questions about why did you get divorce in less than a year.

My question, do I have to hire a lawyer. Or it is ok/easy to do it by myself?
I am just worried about the interview since I was married and divorced through K1 waiver

Thanks.

If you got divorce and applied after 5 years of from the time you had you green card. You should be fine. They will though ask you about divorce.

did you had a conditional green card for 2 years or a regular 10 year card. It depends totally on that.

The online status should also say "We approved your application" right after "You attended your interview", these two usually happens on the same day after the N400 interview. And usually a week after that they mail the oath ceremony letter. Do you see  "We approved your application" status on your online status?? If yes then the delay is unwarranted and you need to reach out as you are saying.

In that case your application has not reached the final approval stage yet, it may have to do with your combo status. In any case it "should" clear eventually since you have passed the N400 interview but may take time. You should try to utilize any way to "knock at their door" for the approval.

My interview has finally been scheduled for March! yaaaay!!!

I wanted to asked those of you who passed their interviews in January & February, were you guys placed for the very next Oath ceremony? or was it a couple of  more than a month after? I'm just trying to move around some travel plans.  @id4me @tlammby @starsky Congratulations to y'all!

I read on the facebook group that Houston's oath ceremonies are held every 3rd Wednesday of each month, is that correct?

My experience was exactly same as yours. Only thing different was the wait: I had to wait almost 45 mins for my number to be called. After that it was super smooth and I was out in like 15 mins (probably less). Now status shows " Your final step to becoming a citizen is to attend your naturalization ceremony. We will mail you a letter when we schedule your naturalization ceremony."

so Hopefully we will be at the next month's ceremony? Good luck to all

Same here and hoping to get scheduled next month. I keep checking online to see if the letter shows up, but I'm not sure if it has been scheduled yet.

I logged messages at 30 and 60 days online with just the generic “within processing time” reply.  At 90 days I’ll contact senator(s) and at 120 days the ombudsmen office.
