is there a particular naming format that we need to adhere by for the supporting and primary documents we upload during the NVC/i-864 stage ?  Can we use space in the name or should use underscore? should we clearly put the name of each person's document and write in the file name if they are the petitioner or joint sponsor and etc?

I am not aware of a specific naming convention.  If you can save the file on your computer as a PDF with a particular name you should be fine uploading them as the files will be attached to a specific case.

Good Luck!

You will also be uploading each document to the place it goes, so they will be expecting to see the foreign spouse's birth certificate, where they told you to upload it.  If it's an applicant document, they already know it's Mary's, so Mary Birth Cert would be a fine way to name it.  Keep it simple.

I'll add that I've never seen this question, since joining in 2005.  Keep it simple.
