Hi everyone. I'm just in the process of getting all of our documents together for our interview (yet to be scheduled), and I noticed that on our Bank Statements, our name is listed as:

Husband LastName OR Wife MaidenName LastName

Do you think this will be a problem since it does not say ... AND ... ? I know i'm probably fretting over nothing, but it just takes an act of congress to get my bank to change names on an account heh.

Thanks again as always!

i think it wont be a problem if u ask the bank to email or give u a print out or record that it is a joint account owned by both of you

Thanks for the quick reply :) But do you think the fact that the joining word is OR instead of AND will cause us some trouble?

Thanks! :)

The joining word is relevant only to the bank. It means that either the husband OR the wife has access to the account. If the joining word was "AND", it would mean that withdrawals, etc can only be done with both the husband's and wife's consent/presence. (Both parties would need to sign all checks, withdrawal receipts, etc.)

Summary: Don't screw up your bank account and stop worrying about this.

The OR, if it's like my bank, just means that either of you can take out money or deposit checks without both of you signing for it. (If it said AND, you'd need two signatures on every check.)

What's important is that you're showing co-mingling of finances.
